I’m staggered so many football fans don’t understand that you can’t compare Duffy from last season to Webster of this season, totally different systems this year our defenders are given much less protection and are left far more exposed. Webster is better than Duffy.
I would break it down further still:-

Webster is a better footballer.
Duffy is a better defender.

Mr Potter wants all his defenders to be footballers first.

Based on what? You are off your head mate, you can’t compare being good in the championship to this league, he’s showing promising signs we can all say that but what you are saying is based on absolutely no evidence.

Evidence is based on what I see with my own eyes ,the biggest clubs in the country sniffing around him .
I’m sorry u can see a class act when u see one . Everyone was shocked when we paid 20mill for Webster . If white left for 20mill Leeds fans would say your getting a bargain .

Lucky to have this guy, been one of our top performers so far. Anyone else have a different a opinion to that, fine. But don't pretend you know anything about football and our way of playing.

The bigger issue is, we need a Left and Right back who are quick and nimble enough not to leave two electricity pylons exposed . . . . Webster/white/burn/Dunk, it doesn't matter which one . . . . They only usually get in the Shyte because of **** ups elsewhere.

Yep, we need Bernardo back ASAP.

Alzate had a shocking first half, but I actually thought he was very good in the second. Not sure if he’s the long term solution there but I’m happy to give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

But he losses players , tracked players so far up the pitch in the second half left massive holes at the back .

His problem today was that he’s got a kid playing out of position at right back. Alzate was better 2nd half but had a shocker first half and he left Webster exposed time and again. Webster needs more support from his full back.

He is good but his decision making is not good enough, you do not try and run past 2players when you are the last defender. You shouldn’t send short passes to players with an opponent on their back. He made 2 bad errors in the first 9 minutes, after that he lost confidence and stopped playing forward passes. As long as he learns from his mistakes he will come good.

Webster has improved at every club he has been at , Portsmouth to Ipswich to Bristol City to Brighton. He is work in progress, learning and improving. We may not be the club he wants to end up at and that is his ambition and aim to play at a bigger and more successful club than ours. Enjoy a young talented defender improving his trade with us in the Premier league (he has only played 14 odd games) His agent, like all agents has high hopes he may get a bigger move in a couple of seasons.......believe me we have not yet seen the best of Webster yet.

He is good but his decision making is not good enough - for a 24 year old who's played 12 Premier League games with a new team, manager and formation.

And Webster was in the championship last year and can’t remember him getting as much praise as white has this season.
If Webster plays for England before white I will donate £1000 to a charity of your choice ?

He said White not Duffy. You have trouble reading that ? Despite all that Webster is a weak link. You are right it's a different system and one that doesn't suit Duffy. White on the other hand..
Still it's early days to judge Webster but there is alarm bells.

You are correct White is absolutely excelling at premier league level right now... oh wait he’s in the championship. This league is absolutely brutal on defenders, White probably will go on to be a good player but to say he should come straight in ahead of Duffy and Webster when he has no experience in this league is absolutely laughable.

Webster is playing his first season in a very tough league, get a grip.

I'm not writing Webster off obviously. But he IS costing us goals. Wolves' first goal today he went to ground in a brainless lunge high up the field when they worked their 1-2, it left us completely exposed and resulted in us conceding. Not to mention the incident earlier to that when he went to swerve past a couple of players 10 yards outside our box, got dispossessed and almost cost us again. The first goal at Anfield was down to him as well, simply did not get off the ground to make a mandatory clearance and left VVD with a simple header.

Personally I'd have Duffy straight back into the team, to reunite one of the best CB partnerships in the division. Do we REALLY need two "silky" ball-playing CB's ? Let Duffy do all the ugly stuff. He wins EVERYTHING in the air, he blocks everything, he smells the danger, snuffs it out and then gives it to his mates who can pick a pass. Webster is looking like a bit of a luxury tbh. A very good player, but as SB said, he's simply not as good a defender.
