[Albion] "This is somewhat of a transition season..."

Shouldn't that be something of a transition season? I hear this more and more regularly and I'm sure it's wrong.

And you can lump in "I resonate with this" - no you don't, it resonates with you.

Sorry - back to the point of the thread.
No somewhat is correct here.

This has been fairly obvious since last summer, hasn't it?
Seemingly not to those who scream for Hurzeler to be sacked each time the team hits a bump in the road.

Also, I'm not sure I've heard/read a senior club official acknowledge it either.

The term 'transition season' is an odd one as it implies that Albion are perhaps performing below par whilst everything resets. Yet 10th in the league is not below par. The European season was well above par, however.

Not to me...we're about par for a transition season
But that suggests you think our natural position is higher in the table ?

I would differ. But it's a game of opinions.

i can accept that, but is it a good transition?

would like to think so, but every few weeks there's doubt.

The comments about the increased activity in the summer transfer window – which led to everyone banging on about having spent £200m – were along the lines of "We don't normally work like this, but we are building for the long-term future", as I remember. With that in mind – and along with the lateral thinking about how long it would take to fully integrate those players into the squad (more than a few months, IMO opinion – and that's before all the injuries) – my expectations certainly weren't for Europe or even a guaranteed top-half finish.

Trouble is, some fans expect more and for success to keep on coming and qualification for European competitions being a regular thing. That's just not going to happen for a bit. New manager + new players = no guarantee of success and ups and downs throughout the season.

But that's why it's a transition. If things were good all the time, it would be a good season. All those draws are things that happen under these circumstances. The decent performances show that the potential is there, hopefully the rewards will be reaped on a more regular basis next season.
