Agreed. I think we needed another hit the deck bowler to take the pressure off Freddie and Harmy, a bit. Plus if light is beginning to fade towards the end of the day, would be an advantage to have Plunkett bowling with his height.

We should always have gone into this series with 4 seamers and Giles. It's not as if the pitches are really helping the spinners that much. I've yet to see a ball properly rip off any of the surfaces.

Play to our strengths, the seamers.

I think they would have gone 4 seamers if Jones had been fit but they don't have the confidence in Anderson and Plukett is new on the scene.

However, you would have expected the wickets to take more spin, albeit we don't have bowlers that spin the ball..........

How frustrating is Freddie - brilliant one minute, brain dead the next. Until he gets that out the system he will not be absolute world class in my opinion. Bit harsh maybe.

Second wicket for Rana.

Flintoff is annoying. What has pissed me off this series is the lack of judgement on what Pieterson and Flintoff think they can hit. Both got out pulling Rana today.

Yes, very harsh. Freddie IS world class. He is the best all-rounder in the world. Even if he had a batting average of 5 he would walk into any team in the world because he is one of the best fast bowlers on the planet. As it is he averages over 30 with the bat.

Collingwood is keeping the scorebaord ticking over nicely though Akhtar seems to be roughing him up a bit.

They need to learn to use their feet more. David Lloyd was saying on tv earlier that England use it as a 'get out of jail' shot.

Not really working that well is it?

The sweep shot is the poorest "percentage shot" in the game of cricket. A high risk shot which, unless executed perfectly, is rarely rewarded. I am 24 and have played cricket since I was 11 and I've never played this shot. An utterly pointless shot.

Anyone able to post a scorecard? Internet access is very restricted at my work. Amazed I can access this site actually (famous last words.....).

All out 10 minutes ago for 288.

Which is Shit in a bag.

Hoggard gets Malik to edge just short of slip with first ball of their innings. Here's hoping that the new ball does the job for England...

0.6 Hoggard to Shoaib Malik, OUT: fuller length delivery, on leg stump, he drivse it in the air straight in the hands of Plunkett at short midwicket, soft dismissal

0/1
