When Hot Wheels came out it blew me away Our Lino kitchen was perfect. That’s where my mum horrible disfigured me with a pan of boiling water after stepping on my Ferrari Berlinetta
Sounds like an Italian job to me.

Setting the Pong bats at the correct angle so the ball would go back and forth automatically, the infinite repetitive beep driving all and sundry quite mad.

We had a little Spar or Co-op convenience store in Stoney Lane Shoreham where I'd go to buy cold mince beef and onion or pork pies to eat, otherwise I'd do the 10 minute walk home for lunch and watch Pipkins or something.
Or the VG?? opposite lower school.

Going down Parris and Greening, New Church Road, age 11, and buying a pound (lb) bag of sulphur*, a pound of potassium nitrate, and a jar of finely ground carbon, mixing them in careful proportions, and then going over West Hove golf course (RIP) to make explosions.

Ditto potassium permanganate, which was mainly squirted at passing cars to leave a troublesome purple stain.

I f***ing loved Chemistry, me.

*Most of which I still have, in a 1970s Maxwell House jar, in my shed. What could possibly go wrong?
There was someone like you in the year above me at school.
One sunny afternoon we all went to the school playing field because the Army were putting on a display.
As they landed in a helicopter a mini explosion and cloud of smoke went up, I remember thinking at the time it was part of the display but the military lads were far from impressed.
Some of the main lads in the year above got the chemistry expert (twisted his arm or bribed him) to make some sort of bomb :lolol:

Getting up to change the channel on the telly.
Watching an actual telly.
Shooting things and Boys Brigade dicks with an air rifle.
Running away from the National Front.
Running away from Skin Heads
Waiting years for the film you missed at the cinema to appear on the telly.
Only being able to get a hot dog at the cinema or as a big bender at the Wimpy.
Making a camp out of random timber and bricks.
Making a bonfire.
Treading on rusty nails.
Getting tetanus jabs.
Waiting for everyone to be out so you can call a girl.
4 digit phone numbers.
Remembering your grandparents phone numbers.
Dial a disc.
Etc.

My Mum bought me one in 1982. I remember when she gave it to me. She cried and I think I nearly did too. Very special present. Wasn't even my birthday. I think it was a tenner back then, which wasn't cheap to us. I paid £450 for this year's. Fraction of the cricket as well. And at stupid times.

I do remember us making up one of these bombs in a sparklets soda siphon bulb and blowing a hole in my friend’s dad’s shed. Scary stuff!

If you go up to Easthill Part in Portslade, and down to the far south west corner, near where Alex Dawson lived, you will find a wall between the park and the field. The wall there has been part demolished and rebuilt in rather unattractive brick.

I knocked that wall down, with the (feeble) assistance of Steve Neilson in around 1969.

Gratuitous vandalism.

I was only 10 at the time. But I had the intellect that would qualify me as criminally responsible.

Yeah, prove that, wankers! :lolol:
