You say that like anyone can afford it anymore.

Looked at going to see Dune 2 and it would have been £17 just for a single ticket.
Worthing Dome. Under a fiver for young ‘uns. Less on weekdays.

Playing in the woods.

.... Spent most of my school holidays in the woods without encountering anyone remotely dodgy. Surely those are a hot bed for perverts and murderers now?
You know what they say. If you can’t spot the weirdo in the woods, it’s you.

Having 6 weeks of summer holiday in front of you with no plans (who actually went on holiday then??), maybe a few days away with the Scouts, rest of time was hanging out with mates, even getting bored which was fine too......otherwise yes, in the woods, playing football, climbing trees, going to the dew pond - but basically outside all day.

Climbing up to the top of the house to install TV aerials like a 1970s three channel chimney sheep's boy.

I barely get up a step ladder these days.

I was never one for climbing trees. Waste of time.

The activity never improved the reception of Why Don't You ?

Going down Parris and Greening, New Church Road, age 11, and buying a pound (lb) bag of sulphur*, a pound of potassium nitrate, and a jar of finely ground carbon, mixing them in careful proportions, and then going over West Hove golf course (RIP) to make explosions.

Ditto potassium permanganate, which was mainly squirted at passing cars to leave a troublesome purple stain.

I f***ing loved Chemistry, me.

*Most of which I still have, in a 1970s Maxwell House jar, in my shed. What could possibly go wrong?

On the way to school, wall ball. If we didn't have a tennis ball, we'd play with.....a stone!

Car chase (in the playground). Hundreds of pounds worth of amazing corgi and matchbox cars destroyed by seven-year old oafs with no appreciation of the beauty and elegance of these tiny replicas. If I had a time machine.....
