one thing i dont miss really is terraces, even in my twenties i preferred to sit down.
I think seating has killed the atmosphere at games

In journalistic terms, it's shocking laziness of the worst kind, made up by gormless hacks who lack the wit and intelligence to ably and aptly report on an incident without it descending to the level of the lowest common denominator every time.
It has no place in football, no relevance in comparison to the original use, and no class in terms of intelligent debate.
So there.
thats true, while i agree with that , there is some absolute bollocks written about footbal in the seventies concerning standards of play , mainly by ex players, all the usual "there are no characters in the game anymore" " every team had five players who could win a game for you", how about bollocks .Indeed.
It's staggering to think that 11 different teams won the two major competitions in a 10-year period. We'd be lucky to get six now.
It's just an easy way to refer to something, rather than saying "oh you know that whole controversy when The Large One did a massive flounce?"
Waste of words. BollockstoREMF-gate. Easy, everyone knows what you're referring to, simply with the addition of the suffix "gate".
So there? Are you 7 years old? Let's see if I can end my post in a suitably childish way...
End of.
i got to say i dont agree, it depends on the game, ive been to some cracking games since stadiums went all seat.I think seating has killed the atmosphere at games
Hmm, not that you're trying to prove my point...

That's the same in every sport though - ex-cricketers are particularly prone to this.

That you're being a pedant? We're not "in journalistic terms" here.
So there.
George Best would be a good Championship player nowadays.
*ahem ahem cough cough*
I would love to know how this little gem has slipped through the net.

You concern yourself with 'a waste of words', when the phrase you wish to use to circumvent a reasonable description of events is both misleading and insulting to the readers.
So, no I'm not being pedantic. I'm pointing out that the use of the suffix '-gate' is appalling, especially when it is misused to the extent that it has been, such as the example you have now twice peddled.
And, back to the thread topic, it has no place in football.
i couldnt believe he was serious, i honestly thought it was some kind of joke............. cruyff turns
No genuinely. You see Cruyff turns in the park. It's piss easy. In the 70s that was the PINNACLE of football. Total Football was passing it around instead of hoofing it. WOOOOW.
Someone dig out some Frank Worthington footage for the boy, please.

seriously ,you're talking bollocks.I've seen Worthington. He was QUALLA. But he was a rarity.
