Geneva, though beautiful, is dull, dull, dull.

Fukuoka is beautifully named.

I love Barcelona, Paris and Berlin.

NOTHING in Italy!

New York?

Word, the presence of Paris on that list immediately makes it invalid.

Oh and shouldn't the title be world's most livable cities in the view of Gianni Jaccoma staff writer of the list website thrillist.com

That would be a bit of a boring title though. As it would be every time lists like this are produced.

High up on the South Downs.
They've got it right about London. Beautiful parks and the Thames is lovely but central London is claustrophobic, overcrowded and manic with a poor transport system.

I'm v keen on Barcelona and Berlin -- not that I've spent enough time in either -- but Bologna would certainly be on my list, Genoa probably too.

This list came from Monocle magazine - no, I've never read it either. But I do know that Tyler Brule, who runs the magazine, is a bit of a fan of all things Japanese. I struggle to see Tokyo top of the list - overcrowding and rents/property prices alone would rule it out. Same for Hong Kong and Singapore. Maybe this is the list of most liveable places for the well-heeled expat.

Pretentious nonsense. There are slums all over the place in Lisbon and Madrid is bang average too.

Plenty of far better cities have been left off, including the whole of Italy and a good chunk of North America. How can you have Vancouver at #4 and Seattle nowhere to be seen? They're next door to each other with virtually the same quality of life!

Only an American survey would have the first named criteria of a 'liveable' city the one that has the highest number of routes OUT OF IT the winner. Pathetic

I'm with you guys, Bologna, Florence, Milan all missing. And no place either for the jewel in the crown, la Serenissima!

Ha! Fukuoka is a city on an island between Korea and Japan - well know to esl teachers as a visa run place. Yes it's pretty and clean but it's never gonna soak you in culture and spice.
