I need fuel for my delivery job, so I'm going to be screwed in a couple of days by the looks of things.
If you don't need you car, please leave fuel for the people who really need it. NHS workers, delivery drivers and so on.

I am not getting drawn into this. Christmas is already planned.

Present Wishlist - Asking for sovereignty.
Gift Buying - Sovereignty in various sizes with optional gift wrapping included.
Extended Family - All invited for Christmas day. This year sovereignty will be on the menu.

Perfect, no panic buying and there is plenty to go round!

Simple solution with absolutely no flaws whatsoever* : Charge drivers for 90% of a full tank of fuel no matter how much they put in.

Anyway, I'm off to buy some lawn mower petrol. If I have time I might think about buying a lawn mower to go with it.

Oooh. I'm ahead of the curve for once. Filled up yesterday before I knew this was a thing. £25 a litre and bring your own rubber hose and suction.

They need to put a temporary £10 maximum fuel purchase in place until the run on fuel subsides.

People will then have to queue at multiple garages and it might put some off.

There absolutely is a driver shortage, and it is having an effect. The husband of one of my work colleagues, is a tanker driver at the Esso refinery in Fawley. He hasn’t had a day off in weeks, beyond the legally stipulated rest days, as they are basically being asked to name their price to do overtime and work their days off.

Oh, I'm not disputing that at all.

It's petrol that there's not a shortage of.

...of wasn't when I started this thread anyway.

Mrs Wz has just got back from the gym with related horror stories of Benfield Valley Sainsbury's queues backing onto the A27

It's not petrol shortage, it's a shortage of common sense.

If I need to fill up I'll go at 6am.

Nowt as queer as folk.

This scare is doing a better job at causing traffic jams than Extinction Rebellion ever could.

Filling up at 6am only works if:

- the garage didn't sell out the previous day, or
- the garage did sell out but had an overnight delivery

Strikes me that most garages tend to have deliveries during the day when there are staff on premises to do whatever they need to do.

I went to the wholesaler this morning.

I couldn’t get any custard powder.
I notice that this shortage isn’t front page of the Sun.

I was also guilty of panic buying. I haven’t been able to get peas for about 3 weeks, and they had some in this morning, so I bought 3 bags instead of my usual 2.

So now you're peaing everywhere. Good job Mrs LLF is a dab hand with a mop!
