Isn't this the fifth year of Tony's 'five-year plan'?

Tony knows.

Clearly the team could do without the pressure, but it's obvious NSC needs a couple of ugly loses to dampen down the January Premier League bullshittery.
I think you're right. Confidence is one thing, but there's far too much general cockyness because we've won a few games lately without playing well.

We definitely have been below par in a few recent games, and our points total could very, very easily be at least 4 lower than it is.

Of course (depending on your inherent levels of optimism / pessimism) there are two ways of evaluating that:

1. "We're not quite performing. Our luck will run out soon, and a few defeats are inevitable"

2. "We're winning even when we're off the pace. Sign of a great team. All is well"

Personally I flip between the two on a daily basis...

I could almost cope with the cockiness if the HOME support was good.

People's NSC persona is an exaggeration of the real world, but when the criticism here is rolling on into the AMEX 'we' clearly need our bubble burst, what with it only being JANUARY.

The East Stand is silent all game, until Bong misplaces a pass.
Knockaert can boot freekicks out of the stadium but god help Norwood if he misses by an inch.
At some point Stockdale will have a 'moment', and we all know how that'll end.
It certainly won't be a recap of all the points he's gained this season.

If posters are going to be stupid enough to want to compare this side against a Premier League team in the 4th round.
Then they need to start supporting their championship players considerably better when they're playing at HOME.

My take on it was this. After 23 games we had 51 ish points and I felt another 40 would do it.Thats 12 wins and 4 draws. That means we could afford to loose 7! We haven't lost that many in the last 70!
If we beat the worst 12 and drew with the next 4 that would mean based on the table at the time we could afford to lose to all down to 8th.We actually beat Fulham when a draw would suffice.
A draw at Preston would also keep us on track.
Any points against the top 8 are a bonus(counting double really).
Just my thoughts.

Karanka walking out on Middlesbrough, the Derby chairman's fists flying in the dressing room...

I wonder how they'll all cope with the pressure this season ?

I reckon the first meltdown will be at Leeds...

4 points vs Preston and Massive and we'll still be on track.

It's another season so it could be all change, your scenario is history repeating itself.
Sometimes it does, but I hope not in our case.
I wasn't suggesting history will repeat itself, it was simply a cautionary tale highlighting how far there is to go.

We wouldn't have expected Karanka to walk out on them before an away game at Charlton, which they duly lost, amid all kinds of shenanigans between manager and board that also included away defeats at Blackburn and Rotherham.
True, but the same - no, worse happened to Derby. We gained 15 points on Derby and Burnley gained 21 points on them over the last 21 games.

its inconceivable that this squad, club, manager, set-up won't go up his year.
That's just crazy talk, these things happen.

Far too long ago for me to remember where to find the source.

Bloom doesn't come across as the type to make statements like we are aiming to the in the Premier League by 5 years. It's just a nonsense phrase that has been perpetuated on here. That is unless you can find a direct quote.

What worries me most is the nagging feeling that if we can't do it with the current set up, on the back of whats been built, from where we are in the div, then how the feck can we do it?

I heard about it, as opposed to saw anything, but it's been discussed on here: https://nortr3nixy.nimpr.uk/showt...-Year-Plan-to-reach-the-Premier-League-a-myth

Certainly nothing concrete

It's not made up, I remember him saying it (the 5 year bit that is, not that he was calling it a plan).

Likewise. I have to say, I'm expecting one, maybe even two losses in the next 4 games. We have a tough run of fixtures and we have to lose at some point. That said, everyone is expecting us to stroll to promotion now. Everyone that is, except our own club and fans.
