There is not one decent CHIPPY near me (that I know of)

The only reason to drink in town is because you know you're going to hit Sing Li afterwards - so much more than chips and battered sausage - that shop is the meaning of life.

I always read everyone on here rave about that place. When I come back home for Christmas I am getting the train to Brighton station rather than Hove and stopping in there.

Do you mean actually in the Dip? The best one (bar Jenny's obviously) is the one just down the road from Downs Junior's towards Lewes Rd
I know the one you mean, and no it wasn't the one I was thinking of. (I've never been there as it's too far, I live up by Fiveways). The one I was talking about is the one actually in the Dip, right next door to a Chinese. It's in an odd parade of shops, there's virually no useful shops and the ones that are useful (such as the offie) always seem to be shut.

EDIT: If it's good though I might incorporate it into my post-match routine once we get to Falmer. I'll be walking past it on my way home.

I went to that one on Elm Grove about a year ago & thought their fare was hopeless tbh. Maybe it's changed hands since; or perhaps I just (ahem) caught them on a bad day? I recall they served it on one of those sodding polystyrene trays too - which is a definite no-no for me.

Oh, & that one on St James' Street is crap btw. Avoid at all costs! The Sea Breeze is much the better option imho. Luckily I live a 10 minute stagger from Bankers on Western Rd, so apologies for feeling a bit smug (for a change).

Standing in the way of control
Me and my mates live on Queen's Park Road and we've given up, the only option is committing artery suicide at the Codfather. We literally go there out of morbid curiosity these days, there's more grease than chips in their wrap-ups.

Pizziaola (or however you spell it) at the top of Islingword is a good place for a pizza and a lovely place to take a lady/depressed friend - they have plastic tables and chairs on the pavement outside now. You can watch the world (assuming the world is the mugs who bowl out of the Beaufort) go by while chomping on a cheese and tomato fat fest.

I quite like the idea of opening a decent chippy, do you reckon there is any money in it?

Bardsleys is obviously the don of all Brighton chippies, but Patcham Fish shop on Ladies Mile Road is a fine local. Pop in if you're in the area, you won't regret it.
