Criticism by the fans is going to happen. Potter made a mistake even mentioning the fan’s comments. He needs to focus on the team. Sorry, but we WERE very poor in the second half versus one of the weakest teams in the Prem, and we got what we deserved. By the end, we could have easily lost. Work on that Potter, and keep your trap shut regarding a few OTT posters on social media (what a major surprise!)

It's all good because it gives some fans the excuse to use the expression " bedwetters or bedwetting " again which is great

If GP turns on the fans, maybe he wants a P45 for Christmas.

As Icy and other have suggested, there is a bit of a wobble on, we need a good performance regardless of result against spuds, then a result against Burnley . . . . What happend vs ViIla will be an excellent indicator as well.

Having now watched the whole press conference he was very defensive and spiky the whole way through. I’ve never seen Potter anything like that before.

He either seriously got out of bed the wrong side yesterday or is clearly very agitated by where we find ourselves and the situation he’s in. It’s not a good look as he’s not taking any responsibility himself.

Or he was actually seething after the result and couldn’t hid it this time behind his normal calm approach.

I am actually happy he has kicked off, shows he cares and has it in him

Makes a good change for Potter to have some fire at pre game interview but having just listened what on earth was he going on about. I dont know one supporter who arrives at any game including WBA expecting us to win. However once into game I can honestly say WBA looked the worst PL side I have seen. Much can happen in a game so at half time still not expecting but optimistic about a win. What I was not expecting was to then get outplayed and hang on for a draw. Unusually I thought this was down to us been so poor. not as Potter said WBA playing well. His comment about Lalana again odd. How good it was to have a midfielder close to Maupay and have his best game in what was our most important game this season. Apart from first game when got injured I think this was the earliest he has been taken off. I think supporters are entitled to be surprised with this. Maybe I dont understand fitness but if honest cant understand how a 33 year old footballer after playing 5 games and trained for a month cant last 90mins

The post west Brom comments, including some on this this thread include who have said WBA was an "easy three points". Any time we don't beat a rival there is lots of insinuation that we really should be "beating teams like..." Its all rubbish. There are teams we have a better chance of beating on paper, but not many and we are one of the teams that many other teams will be thinking there are points to be had. The fact is we got 41 points last season, including many teams that really should have beaten us, on paper, but didn't - this is the joy of English football . We bitch and moan that we don't get the credit for games that we do well in.. Spurs at home last season... "it's all about how bad Spurs were"... and we bitch and moan and cant give any credit when a team close to us in the table gets a point from us. I too am generalising but lets not pretend there aren't any fans that suggest, on here at least, that they "expect" us to win..

I genuinely don’t remember any Premier League games that I thought that we should win. There have been plenty where I think we could but I go into most games half expecting to lose and we have always been pretty adept at losing or drawing games we probably should be winning on paper.

By the same token we often get a point and an occasional win in games I absolutely expect us to lose.

I guess all non six teams fans have much the same experience though.

4 wins in 20+ games is pretty shit though, isn’t it?

Probably worth having a watch so you can see it in context and decide for yourself. I think his body language and eye contact seem very defensive. Something has got to him as he mentions reactions three times during the course of the interview. Maybe he should take a break from social media.

What a terrible performance. That's the manager's equivalent of the second half fumble against West Brom. If he wants someone to explain to him why we feel this team should be doing better, I'm happy to volunteer. Maybe the club should arrange a fans forum if he's so annoyed with fan expectation and we can throw a few ideas around. Obviously we're not going to score every chance, we barely score any of them is the problem. And playing every game like we have a three goal lead is what results in not winning very often because it's annual that we achieve that. We punished a dire Watford on the opening day last season and then took advantage of Spurs after a 7-2 mauling in the Champions League and an injury to their goalkeeper. With the greatest respect to Potter, I think he's out of order with his comments in that conference and he needs to have a word with himself about his own performance and "learn those lessons".

4 wins out of 24 is relegation form in anyone’s language.
I don’t expect us to win but I do expect the team to compete, we didn’t in the second half on Monday night and the manager’s negative subs compounded that. I do not see this as a drama, it’s actually Potter himself keeping the topic alive.

Looks like the fans are getting to him and probably the team too.
Does anyone think that by giving this pressure it is actually going to improve the team's performance. I don't

After actually watching that it is something and nothing. I get the impression he personally doesn’t like a couple of the people asking the questions. Some of the questions were not far off ‘fans forum’ level in terms irrelevance and trivial stupidity so I’m not sure I blame him for his body language he probably feels most of that conference was a waste of his time.

What is the obsession with taking cross season stats stopping just after the last win to give this 4 from 24. It's a nonsense, especially the context of this year. We finished last season with our highest PL points tally, I don't think we ever dropped into the bottom 5. We're 1 win in 6, with 5 points. That is the only stat that matters THIS season.

Got to agree with you on this point though. I rarely watch a whole press conference, first one I probably have. What a lot of fuss about nothing.

The teeth sucking is a giveaway that he’s not at all comfortable imo. They were pretty wanky questions in fairness

He does look and sound particularly pissed off in that presser. Who knows why. Could be having a bad day. Could be feeling ill. Could be both of those combined with meeting a dumbarse fan on the way to work.

It's probably not his finest 15 minutes in front of the cameras but some people would probably complain if he gave his regular, calm, not very exciting interviews.

Hard for a manager to keep coming out and answering such boring questions. He looks bored stiff and awkward. He rambles on too much aswell, answer quickly and move on! Digs a hole for himself imo. A press conference is the least important role of the manager, couldn't care less about them they're meaningless guff.
