As per his goodbye video, he only started playing football when he was 10. Made his Southampton first team debut at 16.

I can attest to him being a decent bloke. Have had business dealings with him in the past and have even been round his house a couple of times. Very close family who have kept him grounded and a lovely wife who absolutely doesn't give thruppence for the football lifestyle.
