For me it’s mainly about confidence. When results are not going as desired, strikers keep missing chances(and avoiding shooting), deflections going in at the back etc there is a drain on belief and nerves increase. We have to BELIEVE we will succeed but with the stakes so high and margins tight it is far from easy.
I agree with an earlier post that if we could just get a couple of ‘lucky’ wins the belief will grow and team spirit blossom. I too liked the sight of Dunky assaulting Sanchez after the save at Fulham.
Yes I know LT can look diffident but generally I suspect they’re all working really hard to get the success we desperately want. That confidence factor is ESPECIALLY relevant for the strikers and that’s where our biggest problem is in my view - regardless of what any stats may say. I still think Welbz is our best bet to lead the attack and he somehow has to help NM to loosen up and hit the back of the net too.

Blimey these threads are even getting me, a perennial optimist, depressed. I've seen threads blaming, Maupay, Conolly, Webster, Ryan, Burn, and almost every player. Most threads blame the manager. Also worth a mention apparently are Barber and Ashworth. Even Tony cops some stick for not spending enough.

Blame, blame blame. I hope it makes you feel better.

I'm guessing we won't be getting any apologies if Maupay and Conolly score a couple of goals apiece and we rise up the league a bit. You'll all just bathe in the "glory" of supporting the albion and say how wonderful everything is.

Everything would be wonderful if we started scoring goals, winning games and rising up the league

I guess in fairness to the more recent arrivals at the club, covid has denied them any chance of interacting with the community of this community club. So to them it must feel pretty much like playing an endless sequence of pre-season games behind closed doors against superior opposition. Was always going to be tough for a player lacking that all-important Inner Engine. Way I see it, only Lamptey has it. Bissouma may or may not have it. The rest are nowhere

i'd say it's a combination of 3 things, all mentioned:

Results.
No crowds and the general shitness of Covid.
Losing big personalities from the dressing room.

Lallana does, he just doesn't always have the body for that engine anymore.
