You would have to go a long way to beat The Abbey Stadium, Cambridge - although having said that, it was the venue for one of my all-time best away trips, in 1983, when we won 4-3 ! :clap2:

Layer Road. Crap ground, miles from anywhere, racist supporters and bloody awful stewarding - a throwback to the 70s

Griffin Park and the Abbey Stadium are pretty awful as well but nothing as horrific as Layer Road.

Outside of that, went to a pre-season friendly at Welling Utd one year, the Gents toilet was a patch of (quite swampy) grass with some boards round it, the Ladies, I believe, was in the pub over the road. [/B][/QUOTE]

Yes i went to that game.
Argh those toilets

Sorry it has to be Withdean, the only 3 matches I have realy enjoyed there were the first game against Mansfield, the Chesterfield 'Brown envelope game' and the Swindon play off match

Must have been later than that Dave. We didn't play them until we were promoted; we played them in 1977/78 and won 2-0 at Roker Park, but that was a Saturday afternoon game. There were only about 30 or 40 Brighton there though and there were some big skinheads around.

Worst ground I have been to in England is Whitehawk. It is an absolute dump.
Worst league ground would have to be Bath Rugby club when Bristol Rovers played there. the mud bank end was just a joke

Brentford is a disgraceful ground for an away fan. But I'm not sure you can divorce the ground from its immediate environment. So with that in mind, I give you my top five shit holes that I've been to with the Albion:

1) Gillingham, sorry but it really is THAT bad.
2) Grimsby - aptly named.
3) Canvey Island - a place of pure evil.
4) Scunthorpe - God I'm glad I don't live there.
5) Chesterfield - The Police closed the whole town when we where there for the game Charlie got sent off. Good to get outta there.

Worst ground
In england - has to be The Shay (pre re-development) .. in 1987 we spent the whole game (Halifax T v Torquay utd) standing on a grass bank trying to see what was happening on the other side of the speedway track about 100 yards away....... Could have been Wembley except for no terraces, no seats, one entrance, no loos, no catering, no fans, no atmsphere,

Bloomfiield road, Blackpool in 1988 - half of which was condemned and meant that you had to stand out on an uncovered terrace in the teeth of a howling gale and torrential rain (mind yyou we won 3-1)
