The Worlds Best History Teacher - Bar None!

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
My GCSE history teacher used to put The World at War on and disappear for 40 minutes before returning to give us an essay to write. I'm not sure you could really classify his as being a teacher. I won't mention his name as one of his sons might post on here.

He's quite amusing and certainly offers a more honest version of history than that told by TV mini-series and Hollywood. But I think he did overplay the insults a bit. He reminded me of Cornwall's description of Caius in King Lear "This is some fellow/Who, having been praised for bluntness, doth affect/A saucy roughness" I certainly got the impression that it started as him speaking honestly and he's built up an act.

Mr MacKintosh, Brighton College. Inspirational teacher - who will forget celebrating V Day or The Battle of Agincourt etc etc. An unusual man, but a brilliant teacher.

When I saw the thread title, this is who came to mind. His lessons were like history in HD, not quite the same as being there, but not far off! Is he still alive?
