Just finished watching the final episode of the final season. Twists and turns everywhere, corruption exposed from the top to the bottom.

Best TV program of all time? Probably. Tops The Sopranos, West Wing and The Shield in my book, now the problem is trying to find some box sets that come close to matching it.

We've just discovered 'Spooks' - brilliant drama about MI5 tackling various terrorist or political extremist threats to/in Britain (a different threat each 80 minute episode), and some really intelligent story-lines, plot twists and cliff-hangers.

Has been compared to '24', but less violent action and explosions, and more intelligent detective work - along with phone-tapping, infiltrating enemy groups undercover', secret cameras planted in household objects, tracking devices fitted to cars, etc.

I'm a big fan of '24', but we're now addicted to 'Spooks' via DVD, of which there are several series.

Can't recommend it highly enough.

Agreed The Wire is superb. Just finishing Series 4. I never thought anything would top the Sopranos but this does incredibly. Highly amusing we're signing Jimmy Mcnulty as our new left back.

Just wait until you see our new left back shagging a blonde over the bonnet of his car half way through season 5! :ascarf:

The Wire is outstanding TV. One of the best things about it is the way that the makers feel no need to have a neat storyline per episode - it takes the entire first series to deal with a single case which all other similar series would telescope into a single episode. It does not patronise the audience by assuming it is thick and everything needs explaining. And it has a viewpoint and a philosophy, which is exceptionally rare in modern telly. Even The Sopranos looks weak in comparison.

The Wire is brilliant. Just got the first 3 seasons of Homicide: Life on the Streets and it's equally addictive.

No coincidence its brought to you by the same team, Simon and Burns! Also, you will see several Homicide Alumni popping in and out of The Wire both in front and behind the camera.

Suggest a look at Generation Kill, currently on FX the new [product from The Wire stable.

Now all together now...why can't we make quality TV like this...
