As I get older and sexier I find myself drinking more and more red wine. However I know f*** all about it. So far after extensive study I have uncovered the shattering news that South American Reds are good value and that I like Malbec.
So go ahead - educate me, I want recomendations, facts , wines to avoid.

Oh and I am also currently enjoying a Primitovo del Salento from Sainsbury's taste the difference range.

This greek one is absolute NECTAR. Aged in oak, its almost between a port and a wine. I could drink this all night, its delicious.
£3.90 from Tesco.

Price is not always an indicator of quality.

I have been necking that stuff for years and the related whites etc.

My basic plonk in Greece, first discovered it 20 years ago, at 45 p a litre.

It has served me and my mates very well!

Voky, get yourself on a Spirits and Wine course.

Great entertainment, you drink loads of wines, discover the regions, the grapes and you will learn not to be a ******* bigot:laugh:

How come the wine in supermarkets is always out of date? It's always at least a couple of years old and the other day I saw a bottle with 1995 on the label!

It's a scandal, they should only sell fresh wine. I think I'll write to the Daily Mail.

Is it just me or does anybody else think that most red wines seem to taste pretty much the same?

But it's still Greek and 'sweet'

Its sweet but with a slightly dry aftertaste.
Goo-aaaan, give it a go and report back, its cheap enough. I think Waitrose stock it as well.
You will not be disappointed.

What ever happened to the days when people used to make they're own wines? I've made and drank some very potent home brews in the past. :drink:

I've become a huge wine fan in recent years with the odd case now delivered regularly to Sneaky Towers. Beer can be too gassy and fattening although a cold one on a hot summer's day remains one of life's great pleasures. Anyway, I digress, so two grape recommendations for you; the Spanish Tampranillo and the French, Cote du Rhone - if you see that on a bottle, buy it, you can't go wrong.

Greek red wine

Easy, that's PURE Partridge! What would Tony Hayres say to Kourtaki?

What do you do for white, by
the way - Blue Nun?!

Rioja for best.

Usually go for Chilean Reds - any grape - in pubs and restaurants and never disappointed. Valipolicella in Pizza Express!

This is/was on offer at 3 bottles for £10 at Sainsburys and is absolutely wonderful. Called Palo Alto.

If I recall rightly, there is another red in the range about 12%. This particular wine has been proofed up, I believe by added sugar to give it extra sweetness and strentght.

It depends what you like though.

If you want to get slaughter than this is a beaut.

Actually look out for SAMOS named after the Island, it has been made Honey as the special ingredient.

I believe it may be classed as a Desert wine.

But it is quality and has won many awards.
