Errr he'll have 3.5 years left on his contract in January so we don't need to sell him in January either. Just like Leicester didn't sell Mahrez.

You all go on about how Wilf isn't very good but you also openly admit that he's good enough to carry a team that you seem to think were dead certs for relegation up to a mid table finish despite being injured for a 1/3 of the season.

Sounds like a pretty ****ing good player to me considering Stoke finished rock bottom with Shaqiri in their side.

The fact is that last season was incredibly disruptive for us. We effectively didn't have a pre season because of FDB and by the time we had a manager in that knew what he was doing we were bottom of the league with no goals and no points. No excuses from us - it was a shit position totally of our own making. It was always going to take a monumental effort to recover and Wilf very much carried at us at points.

After a decent pre season where Roy will actually get to relax and implement his own system properly, plus add in some shrewd signings, it would be pretty naive to suggest we are a one man team.

Eh ? YOU said you’d sell him at the start of the next window, not me.

I actually forgot you said Will Buckley was better than Zaha. Then Knockaert was better than Zaha. Who is next I wonder.

You better get a move on with these shrewd signings the window closes in a little over 2 weeks, clubs and players are going to realise you are getting desperate and you’ll be paying over the odds.

meant Jan

Exactly- so if he’s gone at the start of Jan, you need your points in the bag by Xmas, and you need to recruit your ‘sustainable squad’ in the Jan window.....which will be incredibly difficult, and expensive. You’ll end up having to spunk tens of millions on high risk signings

Oh.

Er...9 days...

Even better on two counts, I’d forgotten how close we were to the start of the new season and proper football (actually I’d forgotten that our first game was against Watford and wasn’t the following week against Utd), and even less time for Palace to sort their transfers out.

Yes but every other club he’s been offered to have balked at paying his wage demands, no wonder he fits the Palace model.

Given how shocking our revenue to wages ratio is, I'd be surprised if we were actually continuing down that path. History is not on out side though. If worst case scenario is to believed it sounds like £135k a week which is equivalent to £8m a year. When you consider he's a free agent it's not so terrible unless it has a knock on effect to other players. Loan fees for players like Loftus Cheek are in the £8m region.

so good he signed for Brighton in the second tier of English football hahaha

Could say the same about Lombardo for us, an Italian international at the time but joined us in the big league, big difference. Vincente joined you when he was on the decline..hence him joining you. WIlf is better than Lombardo was for us. You have never produced/discovered a player of his calibre. Not even close.
In his prime Vicente was in a different league to zaha he was still a better player than zaha at the age of 31 why poyet never played him against you lot in the play offs I will never know was just what we were crying out for

Vicente was a joy to watch when he played here, were Lombardo or Davids ever any more than absolute toilet for you? Genuine question.

Well he continued to be picked for the Italian national team. Nearly joined Chelsea and went on to play for Lazio and sampdoria. So yeah he did alright.

Joy to watch in the CHAMPIONSHIP. We had Lombardo in his prime in the top division. Absolute zero comparison

No comment on Edgar.
