Nice day here. Was up at 5 to walk over Lancing ring in the cool of the day. I’ll go and watch a film at the cinema later at peak heat to sit in the cool and escape the masses. Then a few mint Juleps in the cool of the back garden. It’s all very manageable for now.

I wrapped my blanket in an ice pack and poured freezing water on to my bedsheet before sleeping last night and it seemed to do the trick. Icepack under the pillow as well.

06:30 on the water ( in a double rowing boat) at Ardingly reservoir, 22 degrees but felt cooler right up until we started to do some work … then it certainly felt a lot warmer …

I went there for the first time with some friends on Saturday. What a lovely spot. Lovely woods surrounding it too. Was very impressed.

Some places have reached 30c by 8am. Sadly Shoreham has been dropped from the breakaway group, and is back at 28c

31.5 in the garden , 28 in the house . Cannot wait for tomorrow more for the dog than me. She doesnt know anything yet as the sun is yet to heat the back garden for the rest of the day. Her tongue is laid hanging out the french doors

Mercifully cooler here today after reaching 41.5 degrees yesterday.

It was supposed to be a little cloudy today, but instead the whole sky is a darkish grey and a distinct smell of distant woodsmoke in the atmosphere. I'm about 90 miles north of where the main wild fires are, so I don't know if it is a result of that...?

I did wonder about it, so knowing that you are considerably more knowledgeable about weather etc, I really do appreciate your input.

Thankyou.

This shows the smoke migrating North over the Bay of Biscay yesterday

Thinking of going out for a run at 7.00am tomorrow, what do you feel these temps could be then please, will there be any breeze too??

Should be cooler (below 20c, maybe 15c) and with a NW breeze. Much more bearable.

London City airport just hit 33c before 9:30am.

The highest ever temp record will definitely fall today.

40c will be reached somewhere Lincolnshire / South Yorkshire.

41c is possible.

Already very hot this morning in Hove, very humid for 9am, not a fun day to work from home.

It certainly looks to be a cooler evening later with a decent breeze after a warm afternoon.

Nearly there......nightmare-hannibal.gif

Currently being battered with thunderstorms in Cornwall, can’t complain the garden needed some rain
