The US Masters

Barrel of Fun

Abort, retry, fail
Is anyone else getting very excited about the start on thursday??

Lots of late night drama to unfold.

I am putting some small change on Adam Scott @ 40-1. It is high time he fulfilled his potential and won a major.

You would be wise to stay away from Ray Floyd, who is quoted in the region of 5000/1
Him and Fuzzy Zoeller.

The course has been lengthened, so the bit hitters should rule the roost. Can the tiger be downed? (No, not Henman) :jester:

Always enjoy watching it. But the course now only favours the big-hitters as they have increased the distances of the holes.

Adam Scott is a good player and it's time for him to win a major (I think he won the Players Championship a few years back) and at 40-1 it seems a good shot.

I think Michelson will do well, as he's playing brilliantly at the moment.
Apparently he's going to take 2 drivers, one for the draw and one for the fade, I'm not sure how sporting that is?

I've always like Phil, but I think thats making the technology too important.

Luke Donald 28/1 could be good each way, I won quite a bit on him last year.

Agreed, Luke Donald is a good bet at that price. His driving stats are good which is crucial at Augusta. If he putts well this week then he's definately in with a shout.

That not necessarily the case is it? I thought they'd lenghthen the par 5's so that the likes of Tiger Woods had to play them as par 5's rather than long par 4's.

Can someone do me a favour and cut n paste the whole Masters field along with their odds and post it on here ? I can't get into any gambling websites at work, and I want to organise a SWEEPSTAKE.

I'd really appreciate it

:)

By actually lengthening some of the par 4s they have taken some bunkers out of play from the tee for all but the very long hitters, so this could work in favour of the "average length " hitters.

Are you doing the sweepstake for NSC, Work or Bruce?...

:jester:
Its a WORKS one.
Bruce has been a right grumpy bastard lately. I think he's got the arse cos I forgot his millet last week, and told him I wasn't going to make a special journey just for that. He hissed at me this morning when I changed his water. The little twat.

The course only plays very long when its wet and it expected to be firm and running this week, which will nullify the advantage the big hitters are perceived to have.

My fancies are Luke Donald and Jim Furyk. Both available in the mid thirties on Betfair now.
It's time for Donald to step up in the majors (I might have said that last season ) and with a win under his belt already I can see him going well again like he did last year. My main worry is his slightly suspect putting and I believe I said that last year too !!

Jim Furyk has been knocking on the door recently, particularly at Sawgrass when he played great golf for the first 2 rounds and putted like an absolute demon, which will be required at Augusta. He's had a few top 10s here and his putting could be the difference this year.

Tiger will obviously take all the beating if turning up but I can't help but think his mind might not be on it. I know when my father was very ill a few years back I didn't know I was coming or going for about 2 months and certainly couldn't concentrate like he needs to do next week. Fat Phil is hitting form at the right time but he's no price, Vijay is putting worse than me and I can't see him doing anything and Els is very erratic at the moment.

As for the TV coverage the Masters committee are complete knobs in only letting 3 hours coverage out on the first 2 days

Whoever wins needs to be long. The course has been lengthened and even Tiger took a 5 wood to the longest Par 3 in practice. Its rained in 4 of the last 5, so chances are it will do so again. Only 1 course in the US open has ever been longer for a major than Augusta is today.

I don’t fancy Donald – He’s long but his putting is not good enough on those greens and Europeans aren’t the way forward for winning money in majors. Olazabel is another I can’t fancy, especially as he is in the short and straight bracket.

Tiger at 5/2 with his father in hospital in no value – Even so I wouldn’t be surprised if he won.

I’m backing Mickleson – He won last week by 13 shots, has got 2 drivers in his bag (one to draw, one to fade) and is on top of his game. I’ll also have an each way dabble on Oberholser and Daly, both can spring surprises.

Hove, f***ing ACTUALLY.
I always put a few quid on David Howell, a good each way bet and a thoroughly NICE chap after he showed me how to hit fades last year at a corporate golf day.
