The unmistakable smell of brewing

Walking past nottingham train station and I can smell that unmistakable smell of boiling beer. Any one experienced this delight?

I get it quite a lot in Wolverhampton as I live round the corner from the Banks' factory. I have to say, I really dislike the smell - although I love the smell from the marmite factory in Burton-on-Trent

Depends what type of beer they brew I suppose. smells like a dark one today. Eww marmite

Yep, just had a pint and a half in their brewery tap by the station.

One of my earliest memories, when I used to go to a nursery school near where Amex (the office) is now and we'd walk through the old fruit & veg market and this smell would hang in the air.

At the time I didn't know it was from the nearby Tamplins brewery and had forgotten about that smell until it all came back when I entered the Evening Star when they used to brew there.

Lewes smells horrible when the Harvey's is on the blow.

Cardiff has a regular malty pong hanging over the city centre from the Brains brewery - not very pleasant. Small price to pay though, 'spose.

Strange I Wouldn't complain about the smell from any of these and I was in Cardiff for a weekend this summer and the Brain's Dark was tip notch.

Edinburgh on the other hand with the chemical odour from the Tenants factory, now that is a whiff.

Lewes smells horrible when the Harvey's is on the blow.

I think it smells GREAT!! Got used to the smell when I was at Priory School when it used to waft over the playing fields when we were playing footy. Gets in yer blood you know!
