If you like me hate Angel Delight, you can to a miniscule extent blame me.

Back in 1969 (I think) I was ia firm of accountants auditing the accounts of General Foods in Banbury, where Angel Delight first saw the light of day in this country. It was also where Birds Custard was made and Maxwell House coffee. If the wind blew one way, our temporary office stank of custard, if the other of coffee grounds from the mountain of waste outside.

At lunchtimes we went into the firm's canteen. You had a conventional main course but the sweets were always the local product, I seem to remember we were being tested for our reaction to "Angel Delight" before it went public. Or was it Dream Topping? It's so long ago now...probably had the side-effect of wiping my memory .
