Following on from the natural History museum thread and the metion of the price to get in Madame Tussards. What is the biggest tourist rip off in your opinion in the UK?

For me although not that expensive about £8 each are these big wheel/Eye things unless it's in London where it is worth going on albeit more expensive.

You would think i'd learn went on the one in York not much to see plus over pretty quick ( you might as well go up to the top of the Minster) But i also decided to go on teh Manchester one and that was crap as well as it hardly clears the Arndale centre. Haven't been on the Brighton one but i can imagine that is pretty crap. Not good value for money at all.

Madame Tussauds will take some topping - it is expensive regardless of quality, and shit regardless of cost. Quite an achievement.

But no one ACTUALLY pays £30 to get in to Madame Tussauds.

Sea Life Centre Brighton has got to be up there. £15/£20 for what, a few fish tanks? I could probably have seen more fish if I had bombed off the end of the pier.

Genuinely, I don't think you're going to be able to beat £30 for Madame Tussauds.

Having given this matter further consideration, the fact that we paid £30 each for a seat at the Championship's two shittest football grounds last season rather makes Tussaud's pale in comparison on the rip-off scale.

Not sure either could legitimately be described as a tourist attraction, but you know where I'm coming from.

Basically, shut you in, charge a fortune for anything because you can't go anywhere else.

Drusillas £16.50 entrance. As previous poster has said, its still basically an adventure playground. A lot of money for that. Also I am a bit down on Drusillas as a friend of mine had a membership there. Decided to take her severely disabled son in just as a one off as family over from abroad. He is mentally and physically disabled, so that he would not have used any facilities. She enquired about whether he / his carer (who has to be with him at all times) could get in for a discounted rate. They were told that there was a general disabled rate of £14.50 which must be paid in full for both the son and his carer, despite the acknowledgement that neither he nor the carer would not be using anything and were attending as part of the family. Naturally she is no longer a member.
