And this is the sort of stuff promoted by Tommy Robinson and lapped up by the likes of Farage and Lee Anderson who are not interested in the truth. there was an article about it by the councillor involved here in the Guardian today……

In fairness whether you agree or not we need the Tommy's of this country to give alternative views, Like it or not they are entitled.

Of course. But they’re not entitled to be listened to or taken seriously.

You have misjudged the room here.

The 'event' started around a Roma family. Oddly, having lived here for many generations (longer than you or your ancestors have lived in Australia) they are indigenous.

The rioting was done by a mix of white, Asian and black. In other words locals. Wankers, certainly. But not because they aren't white. And some were white.

How many generations must you live somewhere before you become indiginous, and have the right to not be deported by the entitled majority?. 'Deport them' my arse.

As others have suggested, it is the arrival of the white man in Australia that f***ed it up for the locals. The loss of culture, forcible removal from family, lifetimes of displacement, alcoholism, depression, suicide.....EXCACTLY the same in Canada. Common theme? White people. English people. Arrogant colonials lording it about and treating the locals like subhumans..

So please desist from racial weaponizing of each and every episode where you see a bit of brown skin behaving badly. It is unhelpful, it presents no plausible solution, and frankly it is f***ing boring. You sound like some silly old Colonel Blimp, having emigrated to what was a black nation, moaning about the darkies and their wicked ways.

Edit: And I know you're better than that ???
Well the kids are NOT indigenous then, have been returned to family. Let's just hope for the best for them above all else.

Tommy isn’t of this country. He’s an Irish citizen now so he can live in Spain, Of course, he isn’t actually Tommy, an affected football hooligan’s name, but Stephen Yaxley Lennon, with several convictions including assaulting a policeman who was trying to stop him beating his wife.

But this shows that the sort of stuff that Farage and co are pontificating about is total rubbish. This guy who is accused of joining in with the riots was actually putting himself in danger by confronting people, grabbing a pallet that someone was going to throw on a fire, standing with others in front of the line of policemen to quell the riot. The bloke’s a hero, and he is being condemned by the likes of Lee Anderson who is either just totally ignorant of what was really going on, or is deliberately and maliciously ignoring the facts of the case.
Unfortunately they are entitled….. to come up with a gross distortion of what really happened.

I don't know about you, but I find lying a bit different to an 'alternative view'.

Do you believe people are entitled to use their platforms to promote falsehoods?

indeed.

It is a dangerous idea, we have allowed to become established in this country - that the discussion of every issue or event, must have ‘balance’ - and that the two sides of any debate must be given equal merit / attention. Even when one viewpoint is clearly, obviously vexatious or proven to be wrong.

I have thought about this for a long time and it has always made me quite angry. Seeing frog face Farage all over Question Time, telling absolute lies to 'balance' the truth of others, stopped me watching it years ago.

Can you imagine a long interview with a child abuse victim and, at the end, the interviewer announces 'and now, for interests of balance, we have Ron, a convicted pedophile to tell us about the positive aspects of noncery'.

Ah, BBC balance. Balance between truth vs. lies, or balance between considered, measured arguments and those of a Scouser?

Come with me on a journey, back through the mists of time, to Question Time in 2014, with a panel member called Joey Barton.

'On 29 May 2014, Barton appeared on the BBC's Question Time discussion programme where, referring to the UK Independence Party (UKIP), he said "If I'm somewhere and there was four really ugly girls, I'm thinking she's not the worst – that's all UKIP are".'

They wouldn't need to get Ron on the programme, they would simply need refer to some old scions from the Labour Party..............................

So you find something that dates from 10 years ago, which is full of the word “alleged”, and is about someone who is no longer an MP and hasn’t been for a while.
there are more recent examples of MPs being convicted of child sexual abuse - Tory and Labour

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss views from the other side of the world. There's always something to learn, and there's always a different perspective.

How about a bigger picture? You don't know what you've got 'til its gone.

There is a flipside to that 80 man scrap in the Casino car park. Fast forward a few hundred years and imagine there were no Aboriginals left, or that the ones left had been assimilated into white culture?

Australia has an absolute treasure, unequalled anywhere else in the world. At up to 65,000 years, 50,000 of them in Australia, the culture out-histories the Egyptians by a factor of 7. It pre-dates all other indigenous peoples worldwide. US and Canadian First nation tribes are just playing at it.

The Ainu indigenous people of Japan (1000 years old): dying out.
The Guanches of the Canary Islands (3000 years old): gone.

Australia is the custodian of an anthropological goldmine. It needs to stop criticising it, look after it, treat it with kid gloves, and steer it away from the bottle and casinos.

Otherwise, one day, Australia will turn round and say, where are they all?
do you think they are not trying ffs ...you have no idea mate , Palm Island goes in a column with Halls Creek , Marble Bar and numerous other locations where the Aboriginals have been given vast areas to do what they want with , unfortunately they are stricken with all the addictions that white folk are but on a factor of probably 15 to 20 % against 3 % in whites , thats why they take up 30% of prison placements in WA particularly , Alice Springs is in the top 20 cities in the world for street crime , add to that places like Ceduna and the places mentioned above , it's a huge problem and the majority are out of patience with it .....to say that there has been no effort to reconcile is plain wrong ....they just don't want it and when they are built infrastructure and facilities on their own tribal lands they trash it m scrap it and sell it to buy booze and drugs......read up on it ...Euramo near Tully in QLD 45 million dollar community built ...60 houses , school , hospital , shops .........fruit plantation under irrigation pineapples , passionfruit , mangoes , avocados ....trashed , f***ed within a year .

I don't doubt all that you say. Including when you say 'you have no idea mate'. It is plain to me that I have indeed no idea how bad things are. But I didn't claim I did. How can I know how bad things are when much of it is covered up and hidden away from public scrutiny? I also didn't claim there has been no effort to reconcile. I said that whatever Australia has tried, it has failed. That comes across very strongly from your posts.

You say 'the majority are out of patience with it'. Well, yes. What is the solution offered by the majority then? Is there a different solution proposed by the (Aboriginal) minority? One that is not imposed on them by the majority? I find it difficult to imagine that there isn't.......

Perhaps whatever it is that Australia has concluded that the Aboriginals want, isn't what they really want? That whatever you provide, will get trashed precisely because it was provided by you? Perhaps the trust and goodwill are also trashed.

There is no easy way to say this. It's Australia's fault. All of it. I realise you may think this doesn't help, but it seems that many Australians still don't want to own it nor accept responsibility for it. That first step is of critical importance. Probably not a popular idea in Republican Australia, but is there a role that HM Government could play in an advisory/oversight capacity? Rebuild a few bridges etc? After all, you've had 35 years to get it right and you've failed. Spectacularly.

I totally agree. That hitler bloke was dead right about immigration. As for Goebells, he provided a different view and was entitled to that view wasn’t he Mr Facist apologist?

It is exactly the same in parts of Canada with their aboriginals. Could the two situations be somehow related? ???

In Canada it is 100% the fault of the incomers. The forcible removal of native kids so they could be 'educated' into Western Ways was an absolute mess, depriving the kids of their cultural connection, and leaving them indoctrinated into a culture that rejected and discriminated against them. Result: alcoholism, hopelessness, mental illness and criminality.

But let's not smear whole peoples as human failures and wash our hands of them. In Canada at least there has been a huge amount of effort that does seems to have some traction. I have native peoples in my extended family, and have spent time on their land.

Where things are not working out, yes, you are correct. It is the incomers fault (in your example, 'Australians' - by which I presume you mean the whites).
