Officers responded to a call from children’s social care at around 5pm yesterday after social workers reported being met with hostility when dealing with a child protection matter.

Responding officers were attacked and helped children’s social care staff withdraw to a place of safety.

As the disorder escalated, damage was caused to vehicles and several fires set.

Specialist public order officers came under a barrage of bricks and missiles from a large group.

A decision was taken to withdraw these officers temporarily "as it was evident that the police was their sole target".

Absolutely pathetic decision, they are the Police they are there to maintain and restore law and order, no doubt they carried out a 'risk assessment' before they made their decision, didn't see them withdrawing in the 80's riots, the Police are just a load of pathetic girls nowadays, more interested in showcasing how 'inclusive' they are than crime solving.

So you don’t want any police officers to be injured, but you also don’t want them to do anything to prevent injury.

And you don’t see the contradiction in that position?

There is no contradiction. I don't want to see any Police Officers injured and ideally in Leeds they would've gone in and arrested the perpetrators without sustaining injuries, however there is an element of risk and there is a chance of injury as we don't live in an ideal world.
