Humanitarian aid shouldn't discriminate or do politics.

Indeed, if folks want them to join a progressive world, you need to show them it’s worthwhile.

Kill them with kindness, it will blow their minds.

This is probably the right answer.

In the wider context, on a sliding scale of 'waiting for a chance to attack' at one end and 'having full and free trade and cultural access, visa free' on the other, where does the cross-cutting issue of 'women have to stay in doors and are not allowed to work' through to 'all citizens are equal and our president is openly gay' slice the spectrum for decision making purposes?

I suspect the line moves around a huge amount based on self interest. Given that Johnson probably see little self interest in helping these boys, he will probably trot out the 'sort yourselves out a bit, first' line.

And here is an illustration

It should come with some stipulations, like let girls go to school. Or raise the marriage age up from 12 for young girls. Or stop beheading non believers.

Yes we should help, but it does prop up a very suppressive and corrupt regime.

In a world of charitable causes, I prefer to give whatever I can to others where it’s more likely to reach those in need. The Taliban can’t be trusted in that respect. Poor Afghans, ruled by a medieval cult and alienated by the world. Enough man made disasters, never mind natural ones. No wonder thousands are crossing the channel each year in hope of settling here or Rwanda if Pritti gets her way.

Ideally. But it does. Because the worlds far from ideal. Humanitarian and Taliban don’t really belong in the same sentence for example.

Send in aid and aid workers, however have all the traditionally male roles performed by women, especially the supervisory roles and most importantly the head of the mission should be female.

Apparently they want to make a bid for Burnley.

This is, IMO, undoubtedly the right answer. To do otherwise would be both shortsighted and shameful.

1000 dead, 1500 more injured, the numbers to increase on both counts and a country completely unable to deal with the situation. Those dead, dying and injured will overwhelmingly be ordinary people just trying to live their lives. There is no justification not to help if we can.

Absolutely. It has to be conditional and those issues you raise are a good starting point. I would not support just throwing money at them and letting them carry on with their brutal, oppressive regime.
