I actually haven't enjoyed the commentary that much this time. I've watched a mixture of Sky and Channel 9 and it's amazing how partisan each of the commentary teams are. As regards Sky, it's mostly Botham who is the problem - biased, unable to admit he might be wrong about anything and a complete lack of ability to understand why anyone would do something he disagrees with. Nasser's also a bit dull. Amongst the Aussies, Ian Healy is the worst, completely unable to show any impartiality in assessing the teams, gets ridiculously carried away whenever an Aussie hits a boundary or takes a wicket and comes across as sulky when England are on top. Same with Mark Taylor, although to a lesser degree. Bill Lawry also very biased I find.

I agree about Botham he can get a bit OTT if they do something he disagrees with. The others I think are pretty good though, particularly Bumble

no, no, it really isn't. the bloke is ridiculous - every boundary is the best shot he's ever seen by the greatest player ever to play the game. he must also have a MASSIVE capacity for storing memories as i've lost count of the number of times i've heard him say something along the lines of "and all those who saw it will remember it for the rest of their lives". i think he really wants to be remembered as one of the all time greats - every time he opens his mouth it sounds like he's trying to be like Richie Benaud in his prime or come out with something that will go down in televised sports history like a Kenneth Wolstenholme line...

I don't have a problem with a commentator or summariser having some kind of leaning, that's frequently inevitable, so long as the presentation is reasonable.
Ones I like:
-Sir Richie Benaud
-Sir Geoffrey Boycott
-Jim Maxwell
-Blowers
-Tony Greig and Bill Lawry, mainly for comedy value
-Tony Cozier (lovely Caribbean accent)
-Tuffers (funny)
-Bumble (randomly entertaining)

Add Aggers, who for all his public school japery is pretty good, my old boss CMJ, coolness personified, Michael Vaughan - who's a really perceptive summariser and, when he was on, Mike Selvey. Sadly, his row with TMS means that we'll never hear Selvey again but he was brilliant.
Mark Nicholas is too smug by three-quarters - looks like the personification of a cad who's always trying to seduce somebody else's wife

Aggers, CMJ and Vaughan do a perfectly decent job, but the ones I listed are my favourites 
Though I do find it hard to listen to Benaud, Greig and Lawrie without thinking of the Twelfth Man broadcasts

My favorate comentator on sky has to be Michael Holding. Also think Atherton and gower talk alot of sense.

Oh yes, I knew there was one of the West Indies players. He has a great voice. I think Ian Bishop also does it when England are involved in games with the WI, and he's good too.

Jim Maxwell is the only Aussie who doesn't have a huge chip on his shoulder and CMJ is our best by a Country Mile - cant listen to any of the TV lot except Benaud.

I was listening to Jim Maxwell this morning when I woke up unexpectedly early, I just think he's spot on. Extremely intelligent insight, knows exactly the right tone to use at any given time, and is just the right side of subjective when it comes to England-Australia games.
Ian Chappell, on the other hand, is a bit of a cartoon figure I find, and his voice grates.

Agreed. Mark Nicholas is absolutely APPALLING. His ridiculous over-reactions to fairly regular shots, means he has nowhere to go when truly fantastic moments occur. Nicholas is a truly terrible cricket commentator.

Nicholas the presenter is excellent but Nicholas the commentator is pretty ordinary. Warney is absolutely brilliant, regardless of whatever team's in the ascendancy, I'm not a big fan of Bumble. Michael Holding is the coolest man in the booth.
