Thinking ahead, does anyone know if the stadium can accommodate more than 30,750 should the need arise? Say Brighton go up next season, solidify a premier league position and become a top 10 team, then top 6 with European football. To build on this you need fans through the door. Just ask Liverpool how badly their match day income on 45,000 fans is compared with 76,000 at Old Trafford. Assuming, given the location that developing on the site wouldn't be a problem, but I didn't see anything in the plans that say they can increase on the north and south stands should they chose to?

will could prob add another 100 to 500 here and there with minor structure work but Id doubt that will happen.

Does anyone know if all of the extra seats will be season ticket seats or will some of the extras be available to non season ticket holders?

They will have to keep some seats back (probably over 1,500) for match-by-match sales because of the need for extra away allocation for cup games.

Martin Perry said today that there are 2,000 people on the season ticket waiting list and most of those want at least two - which would make around 4,000 extra STs plus any more they sell to people not on the waiting list (less non-renewals of course).

Even so, I imagine there should be quite a few seats left over for matchday sales in addition to the 1,500 they can't sell to STHs.

Errmmm, one step at a time eh? The ground certainly can't be expanded again without significant structural works ie either digging down or taking the roof off. It's not going to happen firstly because we'll never need it and secondly the costs would be astronomical for very little.

I don't agree. The Albion got crowds like 34000 in the third division, and in an era when many people had less leisure time and less money to spend on leisure. Also the population of Sussex was much smaller with towns like Burgess Hill having almost trebled in size. A top flight Albion could easily pull in 40,000 plus, and for games against the likes of Arsenal, then its very difficult to predict how big the crowd could be. I predict the demand will be there, the transport will be sorted out with car parks built and further expansion will happen, all being well on the pitch in 10 to 15 years time.

Nope, each person on the waiting list can have an additional 3 tickets, as well as their own, so 4 per fan number on the list basically. Why some of the latest people on the list may miss out.

Correct. It's the same deal Season ticket holders had last season. But the average per person was two tickets, that was what MP was trying to say!

Ooh, didn't know that, so me and a mate will be able to get 8 then at the same time. Oh we only need 2

It was always going to be a unanimous YES, once Steve Bassam starting to spread the rumour that there would be Green opposition to the plans. This caused a fair amount of panic and EVERY politician in Brighton and Hove realised it would be political suicide for them and their party to oppose it. Well played, Steve, I say.

Having said that, and having read the conditions that are attached to the planning permission (and the reasons for them), there are some really challenging issues still to be addressed, especially in relation to transport matters.

The elephant in the room insofar as transport is parking. Yes public transport will improve and as predicted they will start the process to expand Falmer station. However the reality is that there is plenty of room around the ground, and in the adjoining estates to build car parks. That must have been a factor in putting the ground next to a motorway in the first place, although never admitted. Over the next 10 years private enterprise will build car parks in East Brighton and I expect on the land around the ground itself. That after all is the advantage of the Market, when there is demand, someone will invest to make money out of that demand and then the demand is satisfied subject to local council officials who will in their own time eventually catch up. I also would not be surprised if the universities knocked down a few building, move a few classes to another campus so to make way for parking in order to make a few quid.Certainly I would look at it if I was running the universities.

Blimey! You asked for it.
