Will it still lack atmosphere and decent beer?

Ahh, a queue for the bar thats 10-deep, with a couple of disinterested bar staff shuffling around serving between their tiresome banter. I think not. Specially once X-Factor starts up again.

A big telly in a bar called The Sportsman ......

.....and no live sports.

What??
No really, it's true!
Where?
In Brighton, right next to their tinpot running-track stadium.
Can't they have a whip-round and get Setanta or Sky?
Apparently not.
Even my local bogstandard stinkin' norvern outhouse of a pub shows games.
Yeah, but 'The Sportman' doesn't.

Any Brighton fan who goes there to drink on matchdays should really be having a word with themselves. It's dreadful service and the serving staff hate you.

Shabby!

Spent 10 mins watching a member of staff try to make a cappuccino whilst 20 people waited a the bar to be served lager and beer that takes seconds to pour. I've never witnessed chocolate being dusted over a mug of cheap coffee take so long. That sums the place up nicely.

Also witnessed two members of staff being sent for a break the minute they opened the doors after a game leaving just two people to serve a hunderd thirsty punters fresh out of the ground. The place deserves to fail.

How can you class a pub with people queuing ten deep at the bar a 'failure'?

Agree with the missed opportunity bit - could be so so much better.

It really isn't the worst pub in Brighton though - only on matchdays.

Did anyone go into the bar under the stand after the Torquay game? It was recommended on here prior to the match, so I gave it a go. Took my son and a guest. Big screens with footy on, long bar with chatty staff. Great atmosphere. fans mixing happily and chatting about the game.

I'd like one of those please.

I have been to this establishment 3 times and had a truly awful experience every time. I will not give this place another penny as long as I live.

Even the Seafield is better. At least they are polite to their customers.

It is not a Barrass pub but the parent company is the same one Mitchell and Butlers.

Who have loads of different management companies like Ember Inns, Vintage Character Inns, Bar One, O Neills to name but a few.
