You've not read between the lines properly BoF. He says he wouldn't play for a poor premier league club because he wouldn't get many chances. He also said that if you play for a big team you play with quality. Ergo, he'd love to come to Brighton. We create loads of chances and have (league one) quality all over the pitch. Plus he loves a flutter so will enjoy the race course and dogs. And, of course, TB can get him in on some late night back room poker action.

Posted this last night but thought it really deserved a thread of its own.

Caught up with an ex-colleague last night who works at Watford (very reliable source) and he said that we are / have been trying to sign the Duke for some time.

Apparently a loan till the end of the season has already been agreed in principal with Watford but we are just waiting on the player.

He returns from Greece next month and has been told that he has no future at Watford, apparently he is interested and his agent has talked to Gus but he is hoping something better will come along so this might rumble on until the end of the transfer window.

Surely this is the special one of which we speak?

Fair play for a good TRUE rumour. It says in those articles we're linked with him. Let's hope we have agreed the deal in principal with Watford and Nathan wishes to come to us.

Heskey would tear this division up, cannot believe people are saying they wouldn't want him.

Heskey is a good finisher and has a quality that is way beyond League 1 and probably Championship. Would be a great signing if his heart was in it - don't want a Robbie Savage Cameo of turn up and not bother.

Assuming we are in for someone very special, is this going to be a last day of the window, if he can't get anything else, or a first day of the window, deal already sorted, thing?

Last day. There are a lot of clubs sniffing around him, and his club want to sell, so I very doubt the special one will be coming.

AAAH, so its a 'he' then?

Lots of clubs want him, so rules out Owen. He Club want to sell as well - there will surely be loads of rumours in the media by now then - so checking the gossip page we have Robbie Keane and Emmanuel Adebayor - both of whom half the premiership would take. But we're not going to get him anyway, so why worry!

So at the end of the window if this "special" player doesn't come will those who claim to be in the know tell us who we were after?

I thought a wage structure was more than just who pays the direct debit. I'm sure there would be a risk of disharmony is someone waltzed into the club, when we are in the top six, commanding quadruple or more than most of the earners in our team.
