Bhaforever is right, the sit in at wycombe didnt do us any good , I was there and was misty eyed, but the person who it was directed at ( john p )was totally unaware as to what was happening, unless he was listening to scr.

Somebody previously said if its not in London then its not going to be noticed. I think that the next time JP is in the house of commons ,as many supporters as possible should make the trip to London, and stand opposite parliament ,in parliament fields for an all day singsong. I think a couple of thousand of us would definately be noticed and HEARD in the houses of parliament.TAKE THE DAY OFF WORK -TAKE THE KIDS OUT OF SCHOOL-DRESS UP. We havnt got long left

How do you know it didnt do us any good? Because it didnt make the 9 o'clock news. Or because it wasnt in the news of the world.I can really see him sat at brekkie looking in the sports pages for any possible protests weve made.

I thought the whole thing went well and im quite sure it wouldnt sway his decision anyway..But it does show what we can do if we try! But goin on the pitch isnt going to make him give us falmer.

Yeah mayby go up to london...But just sitting on a message board digging at the efforts made by people isnt the way forward.

If you read my first post i think you will realise i wasnt digging at peoples efforts i said well done. However it didnt get an ounce of publicity and i just said something bigger needs to be done, lets wait and see if the flowers get in the papers first before anything else is done, but time is running out and fast.

That, my friend, is the most sensible thing you've written on here.

Sorry byf , but I was one of the people making an effort on saturday and am not digging at anybody, I simply said that I dont think that it was as effective as we might have liked, judging by the disappointing amount of media coverage ie not even a mention on Meridien

bhafc4ever has a good point the Man Utd fans who went on the course at the racing got national coverage on all the main news programmes and all the papers.

1. because it was Merchandising Utd
2. because everyone already knew about the racehorse dispute anyway as it's been all over the papers for weeks.

Did they gain sympathy and support or condemnation?

Your right though it was not as effective as we deserved..We should all be so so proud of ourselves and a big applause goes to the nchat guys who i havent seen eye to eye but did create a tremendous atmos............

But remeber everyone..Whos to say he reads the sun or the daily mirror...What were we expecting 10'oclock news......It did get us in the biggest newspaper in the county and the labour party do have mp's in brighton...So they must have seen it+you never know mentioned it to 2 jags. Put it this way..I reckon he knows it happend and that is the result we were after.

Fair play to everyone that took part and f*** off to every one that left early. However as i said last week this would not generate alot of publicity apart from the argus. I am afraid to say " told you so " only a 1 liner in a tiny write up in the news of the world. So when are we going to realise the only way to catch the media attention is to pitch invade as this always gets in the papers. Dont give all that crap we could be deducted points rubbish as every time there is a poll on here about going up no one wants it and every one for every arguement quotes falmer. So come on tuesday nite in luton lets get on the pitch and cause a stir guarenteed to make the papers on wednesday. Come on brighton lets continue to pull together and fight the cause. If anyone has a better way to get in wednesdays media please tell me but not another sit in im sorry it just wont work.

f*** off to everyone that left early? thanks to every one booing people who left my friends 5 year old son left the ground crying and not wanting to go back to a brighton game again the same with his father. It may only be one fan but what do you think he will tell his friends and his father will tell his friends?

i stayed but didnt boo people that left as it was a disgrace, i mean would you want to stay behind in the cold with a 5 year old child? if people bothered to look at the people that left they were mainly people with children who may decide not go back to a game if as upset.

may only be one or two fans but they all count

One thing that the protest overall was effective in doing was bringing the situation to the attention of Brighton supporters who are not as well informed about events as those on this forum.

Don't under estimate the importance of that.

OK the sit in generated fantastic support and great publicity for the cause theres probablly no need to do anything else now coz this caused such a stir, parliament will be raving about it in years to come.

So far you have been hyper critical of people's efforts, but have come up with no constructive alternatives that keep within the confimes of the law. We are waiting...

Now Now dont be silly... but your post title is incorrect..THE SIT IN DID NOTHING! well it did..How did it sound on the radio by the way?

1) It got in the biggest newspaper in the county (with labour mp's reading it)

2) various sports phone-in's know about it

3) It has generated wider response from fans not just on nchat

4) Proves what we can do if we really try

5) Other clubs now know the importance of our plight..which hopefully will get more letters sent

So to say it created nothing is off the mark bhafc.

OK, there wasn't massive national press coverage but Prescott isn't going to make his decision without being briefed on local opinion. His officials will be taking note of what is happening down here - on the "natives are revolting" principle - and Prescott will expect to be briefed on current opinions before deciding anything. Being briefed includes local news and any coverage of Falmer matters. And if he wasn't that fussed about local opinion (which, from dealings I've had with the DPM's office in the past, I doubt) by the time he's been bombarded with floral tributes, he's going to be taking a deal of notice.

the only paper in the area which does reports every week anyway im sure everyone in parliament has a good read of that with their coffee.

2) various sports phone-in's know about it

yeah the club got a little mention but not coz of the sit in.

No i suppose other internet sites are reporting aswell.

4) Proves what we can do if we really try

yeah

5) Other clubs now know the importance of our plight..which hopefully will get more letters sent

Ask any footy fan near you know one knows about the sit in or whats going on unless they read the argus or internet.

So to say it created nothing is off the mark bhafc. [/B]

2) It did get mention of the sit in...with adrain durham on talksport

which radio station do you listen to while your not @ 75% of away games?

3) News spreads alot faster than you think it does+clubs all over now know even about the sit in..which can only be good!

Im not quite sure what your point is bhafc..Youve ranted on all morning about it not doing anything. But it blatenly has....What exactly did you think would happen.

Question time?

tonight with trevor mcdonald?

It was a big dissapointment it didnt make the nationals...But as for meridian..who cares..It made the argus which is just as good.

If the worst comes to the worst and we've nothing to lose, it's quite reasonable to get into "desperate times call for desperate actions" mode.

But at the moment all we'd do is give ammunition to the antis who would love to see us condemned as mindless hooligans. If they were stupid enough to try and discredit Albion fans by some of their barmier campaigns - remember "duck stoning"? - a pitch invasion would be almost beyond their wildest dreams.

Remember, Prescott has to consider why he should over-rule the Local Plan Inspector's report as well as consider why Falmer is so important that there is a case for a development in the AONB. Creative protest campaigns will make that case far better at the moment. Pitch invasions - and who from the national press if going to be at Kenilworth Road anyway? - can only have a BAD influence on Prescott at the moment.
