Seems to have become a big thing on here but it’s not as bad as being made out.
We’ve conceded 6 from set pieces this season from 15 games which is the same as Man United, Wolves and Spurs. It’s only 1 more than Liverpool and Chelsea.
Last season we conceded just 10 from set pieces from the 38 games, fewer than Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal.
There is nothing wrong with zonal marking or Potter’s ability to coach or set up a team to defend or whatever lazy criticism the anti Potter brigade want to use to throw at him.
We much worse at defending set pieces in our first season in the Premier League under Hughton where we conceded the highest number of set piece goals in the division by a long way - 21. And that was with Dunk and Duffy at the back before anyone comes back with some nonsense about them being the answer now.
Yes we can obviously improve at them but set pieces aren’t the reason we’re only in 16th. The glaring issues are that we are absolutely not clinical enough in front of goal and players like Dunk, White and Ryan are making too many individual mistakes they shouldn’t be making.
