Will study tonight but on face of it and maybe have this wrong but not pleased unable to pass my ticket on. Both friend and I usually cant attend 3/4 games each . When this occurs great opportunity to pass on to friend or contact as a favour. Will go as far as saying these usually go to someone who would not be able to justify cost of a ticket which is good. Appreciate can sell back to club but that misses the point.
As I said maybe I have this wrong because I cant think of another event whether sport ,music or theatre that I cant pass on my ticket

It is literally illegal to pass on a football ticket, like it or not, even if you don't accept cash in return.

But the club IS permitting this, subject to the STH paying a £20 fee for the season and the recipient being a club member. It really doesn't strike me as unreasonable at all.

Even pre-covid some gigs require you to show ID. I remember taking some to see Kraftwerk at the Tate a few years back.

A couple of years ago, I also had to show ID to get into a late night bar in London, not to show my age (I was in my 60s) but to prove who I was.

Yep, that’s the point I was making earlier - essentially the ‘casual’ (but technically illegal) passing of tickets to occasional visitors has been stopped. Frustrating for some but can absolutely see why the club have taken the opportunity to do this (and with T&T they probably had no choice).

FAQ on the website states :

Following successful trials in 2020, all season tickets for the 21/22 season will be issued as mobile tickets. This is for security and safety reasons. The mobile ticket will work whether you have a phone with an NFC chip or not, as the ticket will work by either scanning the chip in the phone OR by scanning a barcode that is displayed. For extra security the barcode changes every 20 seconds so photos of the ticket will not work. If you do not have a smart phone please contact Supporter Services in June. STHs are reminded that photo ID must be shown every matchday, confirming the named attendee matches the name on the season ticket (under-12s are exempt from showing photo ID).
Click here for our Mobile Ticket Guide
Please Note: Mobile Season Ticket passes will be emailed to the email address held on season ticket holder's account prior to the first home league game in front of full crowds.

Thanks for posting,I will have to work out what to do.
I feel a bit deflated by this.

Apart from the question of legality, you may have missed the fact that there is a global pandemic. I'm guessing that a big driver for this is simply the absolute necessity of being able to know exactly who is in the stadium.

But the good news for you (and the rest of us) is that the club IS allowing you to pass on your ticket to a friend, provided you notify the club in advance, and they therefore know who that friend is. It seems a pretty good solution to me.

Well that fecks things royally up.

Probably end my season ticket after next season.

Oh how football has "progressed" from ringing around a few mates to see who's going and rock up and pay at the gate. A shame really.

Yes you're right.
It must be for the governments track and trace requirements which the club have to adhere to let us in.
But if track and trace is not needed then I don't see why we need the photo ID.
We will have to see what's going on closer to us being allowed back in.

Just a thought , if complying to track and trace upon entering the ground
Are there any plans in place for the transport situation to and from the ground ?

Lots more tickets available on the exchange I expect

Pretty sure Barber would say you'd need to ask the transport providers because how you get to the ground is out of the club's hands.

Unfortunately those days are gone - but it's nothing to do with BHA. Amongst other things, Covid-19 will have a long lasting effect on our freedoms. We can already see various airlines demanding vaccination certificates for all passengers, employers requiring staff to be vaccinated, etc, etc. We will all be living life in a different way in the future. Personally, I'm willing to put up with these (relatively small) inconveniences if it means we have a safer Amex, and a safer planet.

I can never remember the reason for this, so someone will have to humour me one more time; but why when buying tickets on the Exchange are tickets for children charged at the full adult price? I'm sure there is a sound reason that has been explained on here before but I can never remember what it is.

Well really the options are:

1. Pay £20 extra and get your mates to be MyAlbion+ members so you can officially pass season tickets over to them
2. Put seats on the ticket exchange for matches you can't attend
3. Nothing and if you can't attend the seat is empty.

That is the choices available.

Absolutely, we were very fortunate that the club largely turned a blind eye to tickets being passed on to friends and relatives in previous seasons. Sooner or later that had to stop.

Now for one season at least, we have the chance to pass the ticket on to others legally, subject to that nominal £20 fee.

Not seen anything but presumably the cost of a child ticket would likely be less than the club have refunded the STH so they’d be losing money ?

Will all this lead to a ‘trade’ in STs between STHs and F&F ? Presumably no bar to who you sign up as F&F as long as you exchange details.....

For one season only.

Then you could well be stuffed. Best enjoy it while you can.

At one of the fan forums I think Barber explained it as the club has to refund the adult price of the seat to the STH so if they then sold it at a child price they'd lose money. I'm not convinced by the argument myself though may have misinterpreted what he said.

My only photo ID is my passport, not sure I am that happy about this. A little bit of a thin end of the wedge for me. Other than Glastonbury I do not have to show photo ID to gain access to anything other an airplane.

I suspect that it will be because if an adult ticket is put into the exchange but is then bought for a child, the club loses out financially since they refund the STH for an adult ticket but only get back the price of a child ticket.
