Well I went and watched England vs Turkey in a match a long time ago and cheered on the English. I guess that's what normal people do. Go along and enjoy an event for the day and have fun.

'Normal people'? Some normal people cheer for the English, some cheer for the Scots, some cheer for the Uruguayans and some cheer for the Turks. There's no formula here to apply. You said that the Scotch bloke wins - maybe he did last night but as I said he has to live with being some sort of Tescos value brand Englishman equivalent.

The fact he can afford to be at the WC while others on here are slagging him off probably suggests he's doing something better in life than those people are.
Normal people tend not to care what someones nationality is in a negative manner.

Given the hostility towards him and Scots in general in this thread can you blame him for not standing with the English?
Probably thought it safer standing with the South Americans. Would seem a smart move.

To think he shelled out thousands of pounds, to travel halfway round the world just to go to a tournament to cheer for Uruguay, and hoping to get his face on tele. He could have achieved the same from the comfort of his own home. Loser.

I do find it odd that Scottish fans see fit to define themselves as "not English", by celebrating our failures with such verve. It doesn't really say much for them really.
If Gibraltar take points off them in Euro 2016 qualifying as expected, I'll probably have a little chuckle. But I really wouldn't bother making any sort of attempt to get a ticket for such a match solely to stand in amongst the Gibraltar supporters with my England shirt and COMEDY morris dancing outfit on, even if I lived within half an hour's travelling distance of the game.
It seems very odd to me.

Ive been to numerous England games abroad with three Charlton season ticket holders.......Gather you have never been abroad but are one of the many once every four year tournament twitchers...... Anyway thanks for Dale Stephens........

I have been abroad many times - many times to watch Charlton, but also to World Cup and Euro finals, to watch German and Finnish league games, Icelandic and Swedish cup finals, etc etc. There's nothing wrong with watching football abroad, as the Scotland dude is doing. What is wrong is the plastic idiots that support England on TV. True football fans support their club and couldn't give a stuff about their (or any other) national side. By true football fan I mean people who go home and away, to friendlies, to watch the reserves/youth etc. Those people wouldn't piss on the England team if it was on fire. The people who watch the World Cup on TV are NOT football fans by any decent metric - they are the same people who live in Brighton and support Chelsea/Arsenal etc but have never been to see those teams play. They are people who only care about APPEARING to be interested in football, rather than actually being so or spending any money on it.
Getting back to the Scottish guy who made most of NSC cry. Read the article linked to a few posts above. The bloke went to the 2010 World Cup TO SUPPORT URUGUAY TOO. I've no idea if they played England in that WC, but I suspect not. The guy follows Uruguay (in the absence of Scotland from major tournaments). Of course given that they were playing England he wore his Scotland top - I imagine he got a lot of drinks bought for him by Uruguayans last night, whilst most of you lot were crying into your shandies.
Also, of course he was cheering for Uruguay - even if he hadn't been a Uruguay follower, which the article suggests he is - as his ticket was in the Uruguay end. As anyone, such as myself, who has actually been to a World Cup knows, you usually have no idea what games you're going to until a day or two beforehand, and you have no idea which 'end' you're in until you get there. I've ended up supporting the likes of USA, Saudi Arabia and Portugal in past games, purely because that's where my seat has been.
Get a grip, girls.

I think that's what make it so hilarious. Its the absurd juxtaposition. It's very very funny for the same reason that Hiney Art is very very funny.
