I’d rather not use QR codes now, in fact wherever its possible I’ve gone back to using coins in car park machines. Yup, I’m an old luddite but scan this, click that, etc all starts to seem a little less than safe now.
I'm the same, handfull of coins in the car just for that. But this car park did not accept cash, card only via the code. As I say, I checked the code first to make sure it wasn't a sticker.

It is odd that you did actually pay for your parking having used the QR code - and then had a problem that you'd expect to get from a scam QR code.

I usually use parking apps. I've 4 of them on my phone. They work fine until you get a situation like I did last Friday. Parked up in Worthing in a car park I've used a number of times before - using the NCP app (which makes parking £1.50 cheaper than paying with coins/card). I couldn't get the app to work. Then realised nothing was working as I didn't have internet access. Fortunately Mrs PGTips was with me and she sorted it. Later discovered that Vodafone were doing some maintenance in the area - starting Friday evening.

And you always run the risk of getting a ticket because of the faff of sorting out payment if it takes more than 5 minutes. It's the parking companies that are bloody scammers

Not a scam on me, but a scam on the local authority.

I have sent this to Stagecoach:

I got on this bus at xxxxxx and clearly stated my journey was to yyyyyyy. The bus ticket I purchased states that the journey was to zzzzzzz, some 25 miles further on.

The fare was the Government subsidised £2 capped fare. I understand your company are subsidised to the amount of the difference between the £2 cap and the fare it would have been without the cap.

To enter an incorrect destination, one that is 25 miles further on, seems to me to result in your company being able to claim a higher amount from the government than you are entitled to. This is surely wrong.

The two passengers who got on the bus behind me ALSO had tickets issued to zzzzzz, when they were also going to yyyyyyyy - so this was not an accident.

Please investigate.
I have had similar with some Stagecoach drivers issuing tickets for the "end of the line" rather than my stated destination and I had given thought to whether Stagecoach were operating a scam along the lines you mention. Now I know!

Problem is, Stagecoach will either ignore it or deny it.

Oh, that dreaded NCP app. I've a season ticket in Russel Road and a year or so back they changed from a season 'ticket' to the app. Probably once a week it fails. Couple of times I couldn't log in as there is no signal inside the concrete car park. Not just me. I have to grab a ticket and then chat on the way out, thus holding up all the cars leaving.
They used to have about a dozen staff pre-covid, now I never see anyone and too many cars are being broken in to. At least one a week including my Daughters.
