You have to say that it was a top save. Low hard in the corner, you cant do much better and if a goalkeeper saves that, well its just a stupendous save.

Its bad that we are pinning our hopes on penalties though..............its scoring goals from open play that we need to improve on. At the moment Poyet is incapable of sorting it out. Playing 4-4-2 might help.

After watching the video and reading the Daily Mail write up it confirms that Schmeichel completely ignored the advice from De Laet who was booked for encroachment and used his instinct to make the save. His old man was watching and must have been very proud.

If you look closely, De Laet gets called to the Leicester technical area, gets information, then runs straight to Schmeichal to pass it on.
Worth a booking I suppose, Pearson obviously did his homework.

I think you are giving them too much credit. Any intelligence they had on it, would have suggested he should dive the other way - where Barnes almost always goes.

A very good penalty that would have gone in 9 times out of 10. Credit to Schmeichel for pulling out a fantastic save.

Should have buried the rebound.

Unfair. He was stretching and as he kicked it the leicester player is there, too, and on ssn it looks like he kicks ashey's foot as ashley kicks the ball. I'm not saying it's a foul, it was dangerous play, but it made it very difficult to bury the rebound.

Looks like he was stood off centre giving Barnes the impression he was going to dive to the right, covering the 'big' side. Barnes went the other way & that was the smaller side & handily the keeper could cover a shot in the corner that side, which he did. Out bluffed
