This is all great and all that BUT there's a slight fly in the ointment, we WONT beat Cardiff!

Bournemouth are poor away from home and have nothing to play for so there’s no excuse for not winning that one. Then hopefully we’ll go into the Cardiff game either 8 or 7 points clear of them which will take the pressure off a bit.

Other than them being a very good team and we don’t take our home game so will invite the pressure?

I see what you’ve done there, some nicely selected stats.
How about we include the other teams embroiled in the relegation scrap. Last season Huddersfield and Southampton finished between the bottom three and ourselves, this season Southampton and Burnley currently occupy 16th and 17th.

Last season
WBA W (H), L (A)
Stoke D (H) D (A)
Swansea W (H) W (H)
Huddersfield L (A) D (H)
Southampton D (A) D (H)

This season
Hudds W (H) W (A)
Fulham D (H) L (A)
Cardiff L (A)
Southampton D (A) L (H)
Burnley L (A) L (H)

P 19 W 5, D 7 , L 7

Doesn’t make for such easy reading when you look at the bigger picture.

To be fair you have done exactly the same thing.

You have chosen not include Palace and Newcastle who are definitely in the scrap this year and just ahead of us and Watford and West ham who did so last season and were both in the dogfight. Had you done so:

Last season
WBA W (H), L (A)
Stoke D (H) D (A)
Swansea W (H) W (H)
Huddersfield L (A) D (H)
Southampton D (A) D (H)
Watford D (A) W (H)
West Ham W (A) W (H)

This season
Hudds W (H) W (A)
Fulham D (H) L (A)
Cardiff L (A)
Southampton D (A) L (H)
Burnley L (A) L (H)
Newcastle W (A)
Palace W (A) W (H)

P 26 W 11, D 8 , L 7 - That looks pretty good to me.

Cardiff will be thinking if they can turn us over they'll fancy their chances of winning at Fulham and following up with a win at home to Palace.

We had a let-off yesterday for sure.

Exactly. I spent 85 minutes using industrial language at Chelsea's ineptitude, until those last few minutes, which will probably be singularly the most crucial 5 minutes of our season. They will be truly deflated at that and curse their luck, but given their luck against us, I am not going to shed a tear.

So are we saying it would be a good idea to play for a draw at home to Cardiff?

My prediction above of us finishing 16th and Cardiff 17th in the Relegation Calculator thread includes us drawing with them.

I had the same result with my last calculation (and prediction). Definitely staying clear of NSC if we do draw... In fact, probably stay clear of we don't win by 5 goals, have 10 of their team sent off and receive the Nobel Peace prize in the process... Will all be CH's fault!

It'll be a hideous game, that's for sure. I think we beat them narrowly at the Amex the season we went up. They were a mediocre mid table side, Warnock having come in and led them away from the relegation zone. They were ugly, niggly, time wasting, rolling around, hoofball merchants for the entire match, absolute textbook Warnock. There's no doubt in my mind that it will be a completely awful match. I just hope the good guys come out on top.

I think that we will get a surprise win against one of the big 4 left to play ie. Chelsea,Spurs Arsenal and Man City plus 1 other win at home.

I have the same strange hunch. Probably not against City to be honest, unless the title is still on the line and they learn that Liverpool, simply needing a win in their game, are 4-0 up at half time.

You'd think Spurs will have the momentum now they're finally moving home, but they have been a bit erratic recently, and if Lloris carries on playing like he has, there's always hope if we can get shots off. Any other club would be looking at Chelsea and thinking they're there for the taking, but they seem to turn it on for games against us, and I don't think we've ever beaten them, have we?

Newcastle wanting to join in with the relegation “run in” misery it appears.
