"VAR is to correct a clear and obvious error. Not to make sure a decision is correct."

Peter Walton, TV referee person, Man U v WBA.

What the actual ****? ???

We want correct decisions, not a fluffing of the referee's bollocks while he cock-struts about the pitch, like it's all about him

Well, he's right.

Penalty shouldn't have been given.

But the directive to refs is to only overturn a clear and obvious error

I'm losing interest in top flight football because of VAR.

He might have a point if they hadn't used it in exactly the opposite way since its introduction. Offsides given after checking satellite images half an hour later being just one example...

no, thats right. the alternative is for every single decision to be subject to VAR - every free kick, play on, yellow card. the intent is to avoid the ref missing things (out of sight) or misjudging things (speed of the game, angles).

it was not intended for offside hawkeye though, and if they cant tell an "obvious" error within 10 secs its not very obvious and should let it go.

VAR has utterly ruined the game. There's no going back though.

Great.

It isn't rocket science. State what the thing is for and stick to it.

Imagine Gatsos that sometime go off and sometimes don't.....40 MPH speed limits on the M25 with no signage when the limit is ended? Wouldn't happen in this bright and shiny country.

Oh, hang on

Referees, you aren't important. The only thing that is important is the correct decision. VAR is your friend. Don't effing twist it and shove it up our arses just because it has better eyesight than you!

It is a penalty.

But it's a rubbish rule. I hate seeing those given.

VAR is fine. The rules are wrong and the rubric for the use of VAR is wrong.

Anyone who doesn't get his by now . . . .<sigh>

Hate and abhor VAR (in its current iteration). Clearly TrezuTWAT did a platoon, but the constant re-reffing of everything is a ****ing shambles. Good for the Albion today but honestly want the shit VAR system reviewed/refined or binned

I thought they had always said they were a conversation with the ref. If they say ‘he’s got a bit of the ball there’ and the ref hadn’t noticed then surely they made the right call in getting him to check?
