No, it’s about high time he resigned though.
I know it's fashionable to blame Southgate (and rightly so as he is absolutely clueless tactically) but I think he could reasonably expect one or two of them to play better than pub footballers.
You can't really legislate for Phil Foden barely completing 3 passes a game or John Stones suddenly looking about as reliable as an Austin Maxi.
Southgate is a clown but he's being let down too.

The standard of passing across the whole team was diabolical last night.
Rice in particular was shocking.

Ivory Coast sacked their manager halfway through the Africa Cup of Nations and then went on to win the ruddy thing, not something the FA would ever do though.
I understand the implications of reading aloud the Riot Act (1715) to the players but I don't see how we can do any worse.

We didn't even qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations, something else the FA seem to feel is acceptable under Southgate. Bloody shambles.

And anyway, The Riot Act was repealed in 1973.

They were unlawfully assembled on a couple of occasions in the Denmark penalty box and he put a stop to it.

I disagree. I think it takes a particular set of skills, honed over many years, to turn these players into a shit team.
Foden completed 3 passes probably because he only got 5. Was stifled. TAA out of position. Kane pretending to be homeless and wandering all over the pitch. Stones told never to leave our half. Etc etc etc...

Top of the group and the chance to grow as the tournament progresses, but the look of the team doesn't inspire confidence. Teams with better strikers would have beaten us in both games and, unless something changes quickly, a quarter final exit looks likely. To me a big part of the problem is Declan Rice's role. Watching the warm up games that Dunk played in was frustrating because he was always too close to the centre halves, seemingly instructed to drop deep and collect the ball from them. This is his WhoScored?.com heatmap from last night:
And if you add Guehi's you'll see that Rice is doing most of his work in pretty much the exact same part of the pitch as his centre back.
This is Rice for Arsenal in their last game of the season. He's playing left to right in this one as opposed to right to left in the two above. Okay it was Everton, but it's fairly typical of his maps in other Arsenal games. He plays in a three for Arsenal but neither of his partners just sit on the centre back. It's an England thing.
Now both Guehi and Stones have played in defensive midfield as well as at centre back this season. They are perfectly capable of bringing the ball forward and don't need Rice to hold their hand. If he steps up then the whole midfield steps up. Southgate's caution is the issue again. He's absolutely obsessed with screening his back four and even said that he has struggled to replace Kalvin Phillips. In other words, given the chance, he'd have two defensive midfielders screening the back four!!! All those years of having to compensate for Harry Maguire's awful defensive positioning seem to have him convinced that no defenders can do it. We all know that he has one in his squad who is excellent at it and who can play diagonal balls as well as Rice, but Stones and Guehi are no slouches in these terms either.
Stop being scared Gareth. Push Rice forward ten yards and Kane, Foden and Bellingham etc. will be in the position to press. If we get mugged by a break away goal, then take RDZ's no reward without risk attitude. You have some of the best attacking players in Europe and yet you're setting them up to defend and counter attack. I watched that game last night wondering what those players would look like set up the way De Zerbi plays. It would be absolutely thrilling. We'd concede some sure, but a coward dies a thousand deaths. It's probably your last tournament. Go out with a bang!
