The striker argument - is there anything new to say ? Resurrecting it post Charlton - It’s a bit like Liverpool fans saying they now need a decent striker cos Nunez missed a few sitters last night.

What a load of bollocks- that’s not what the argument is about all. Read it properly l. Liverpool fans comparison…. Absolute idiot.

I thought the signs of breaking down a defensive opposition were actually quite positive (despite the result!). Lost count of the amount of times the ball was crossed directly in front of goal, beating the keeper and their players. All it needed was for one of ours to be just a little sharper to get the slightest of touches.
What, like a striker?

We finished 15th and 16th under potter his first two seasons. We finished 9th last season, with the help of the last day results going our way. We could have finished anywhere between 14th and 9th that day. The style of football is better now than under Chris, but why can’t we take a gamble, go get a forward and improve our forward line- which will improve our Chances of getting into Europe and possibly winning a cup. What is wrong with that thinking?? The problem with fans like you, is that your all so caught up and brainwashed by the commercial bollocks that come out the clubs mouth- you think they do know wrong and obey everything they say. It’s really painful to read.
If you think that 'we' should take a gamble then why not write out a cheque for £30-40 million and send it to Tony Bloom with instructions on which striker to buy. The problem with fans like you is that you don't put your money where your mouth is.

Tightwad.

Ffs, how many players we sold? How much money have we made? Do the maths and stop coming back with ridiculous statements-arguments.

How much money have ‘we’ made?

Well in 2020 the club lost £67 million, in 2021 it was £53 million, and accumulated losses at end of 2021 were £270 million. Sales of Cucurella and a few others won’t eliminate those losses.

Our chairman is a gambler, but he is not taking enough risk or balls for me to push us on.

Just think how successful TB could have been if he had just listened to your advice more :lolol:

Well maybe you could explain how the figures in the post a couple above yours have been misrepresented

Can you evidence these funds that 'we' have?

Anyone who places a bet is a gambler, poker, football matches or whatever it maybe his company Star lizard places bets on sporting events.
There is a world of difference between gambling and placing calculated value bets, assuming your calculations are correct of course. Punters (gamblers) lose in the long term, people who place calculated value bets win in the long term, hence the reason why bookmakers ban anyone placing value bets and not just punts.

Are you saying calculating betting isn’t gambling? I make calculated bets and do well over all, I’m still a gambler as I can lose £400 or make £2k.

Yes.. I know it has been discussed now for many years, and yes ....im so bored about about the same discussion, but last night again is just proof that we need someone who can finish. It is getting absolutely ridiculous now.

Yes, I know the clubs stance on buying young and developing. Yes, I know about the "attacking false 9's" who can play in the position and FFS yes I know about how expensive a proven striker is - but the fact is, we we not going to move on as a PL club, sneak into Europe and possibly win a cup without strikers.

We have never replaced Glenn Murray, we have let go of Andone, Locadia, Maupay, Connolly, Zequri (loan) - yes, most of that list were crap - but we have replaced all of them with one striker - Undav - who I won't even waste another word discussing. Welbeck....injured again.

So what are we doing here? Im lost with it. If we go through another window without getting someone in then we are going to struggle. Plus, Trossard and Mac Allsiter look likely to be wanted and leave.

Before people start banging out about how lucky we are to be in the PL, and look where we came from - I know, I was there - standing out on Rainham End on a cold Tuesday night losing 0-1 to Barnet with 900 people. I get it. But while we are in the PL, I wouldn't mind making a go of it, possible getting into Europe ( how good would that be, traveling abroad with Albion fans) and maybe winning a league cup. Why not?

Our chairman is a gambler, but he is not taking enough risk or balls for me to push us on.
How many millions are you prepared to put up towards that?
Plus calling other posters an idiot as in post 161 is a good way to get a Mod involved.

As to how much money have we made?
Your new on here judging by the post count but, please tell us when Brighton last made a profit?

If you are winning over the long term then no it is not gambling. Gambling would be sticking your 2k on red on a roulette wheel, value betting would take that 2k and spread it across a load of value bets in the knowledge that, if you have done your calculations correctly, you will win more than you lose.

Can you imagine the outcry if we had spent £40m on Nunez and he did nothing but miss most of the chances like he does for Liverpool. Every striker signing is a gamble unless you have the likes of Mbappe or Halland
