Newmarket.
Sounds promising, a new beginning, potential, many new and some odd characters, a reliable old guard, a couple of tired oldies still loved but of a different era, thinking of what might be puts a smile on your face but it will ultimately disappoint won't it?

2-1 to Spurs.
Oops sorry wrong thread.

Proper satire is nearly dead,.... sadly. Back when SI first appeared, the targets were anyone and everyone.... we as the audience laughed at casual insults aimed at the good the bad and the ugly amongst the celebrity and political ranks....... what you will almost certainly see now, is a politically driven ( left wing probably) set of targets. Trump, Boris, Rees-Mogg ... plus any Royals who happen to get in the way.....

..... they cannot surely parody properly, any BAME personalities for fear of a cancel culture backlash from the great 'washed' metro elite cadre

What will they do with Starmer?

Bright red face, boring people, get him banging on about how he is a Sir for protecting Jimmy Savile.
It will be interesting to see.

I was young when SI was originally big... I always found it mildly disturbing tbh, not that funny but it had a place I guess... today? It seems irrelevant in world where so many politicians are already parodies of themselves... it’s hard to be funny when the best improv can be witnessed from the dispatch boxes of our elected leaders.

SI is probably dead, politics is dead, democracy has utterly failed humanity and moreover the world.

I live in the past weeping for the future I’m doomed to die in.

Good grief, that is weak. Who are the writing team? That comes across as if it is written by an irritating sixth former who dreams of going into showbiz despite no obvious talent.

Garbage

The problem they have is that in reality, the likes of Trump and Johnson are so bizarre and stupid, they are frankly beyond satire.

File under comedies that NSC has collectively decided are shit, along with Miranda, Mrs B, anything with Lenny Henry.
