Out of interest, how many people on here knew him personally?

An amazing legacy, and very sad he never got to see the Amex.

Just prior to 9/11, we were planning a get together in NYC for all local Albion fans.

On 9/10, I was in the WTC attending a business meeting. On 9/11, I was on an American Airlines flight to Chicago......we all know what happened that morning. I feel lucky to have narrowly avoided everything.

Needless to say, we never did have that drink. I pass by Ground Zero fairly often and always let out a quiet "Seagulls" chant in the hope that Robert is listening to know we will never forget that one of us was taken that day.

I see it as a huge honour to be involved in the REMF, albeit a very insignificant part compared to some. I am proud of the huge amount of money that has been raised so far and how it has grown over the last 11 years. Here is to another 11 years of fundraising.

Rob was one of 658 people my (then) company lost that day. I had dealt with him over the years when he was in London and Germany, not when he was in the US, I think. I did not know he was Brighton fan before we started the REMF planning.

Was introduced to him and worked just a desk away from him before he moved to NYK. Never knew at the time he was a fellow Seagull. Didn't know he was also at Lancing either.

I didnt know Robert, but have always thought about him on this day - as a tragic victim & fellow Seagull. It really brought it home though just now while watching NBC news at work and they read out his name in the memorial list. So sad...RIP Robert.

Does anyone know who the Seagull fan was who got out of the Towers that day? It was a guy who used to attend Seagulls Over London meetings, blimey, must have been 15 years ago. For those who were on the away trips SOL arranged, I think he was the fella who used to read out the local match reports to the carriage on the way home. With all the attention we give to REMF, I often wonder how it makes him feel, when it could so easily have been him who didn't get out that day as well.

I don't know if it's the right guy but I seem to recall a guy called Steve Mcmahon who was a Brighton fan interviewed not long afterwards about escaping. The reason I remember the name (apart from the obvious link to football anyway) was the fact that he used to design patches so you could have Brighton kits in FIFA games on the PC before they were officially in the games. He used the name zigazagga on some of the old FIFA forums.

I played Sunday League football with Rob and was his 3rd team manager for one season. He soon started playing in the 2nd & 1st teams. Never the best trainer! but a good lad and classy player!

It's nearly 40 years since I first met Robert. He stepped in when some girls were bullying me at school. He had moral courage even at that tender age. He was such a nice guy and I really think that he would be so humbled if he knew what we have done in his name.

I met Robert on the Brighton Youth Orchestra France tour of 1980. Even then he was a cheeky character with a unique personality. A joy to be around.
