The Championship.
What A Twat that ref is ,
sending off elphick for a perfectly good challenge
then sending off hawkins for touching the stockport player ...

Really looked dodgey once the fans starting getting on hes back ,
not a league one referee in my eyes

I wouldn't call it a perfectly good challenge. As for Hawkins I could see what he done.

was never a bookable offence though was it ?

1st definately not, 2nd yes.

He was on a yellow (undeserved) and should of be more careful, like the way he was careful not to challenge their player when he kept backing off for their 2nd goal.

Hawkins' red was absolutely correct. Elphick's second challenge was stupid having already been sent off.

I actually think the ref was OK. We have no-one to blame but ourselves. I think time is running out for Slade, our defending is embarrassing.

The ref was a f***ing ****, loved to be centre of attention, get his notebook out, show he was in charge. Just let them get on with the game ffs!!

Neither of Elphicks challeges were ever worthy of bookings, especially when their centre back got away with numerous fouls.
Even with the Hawkins sending off - it was a foul but you blow straight away. You can't wait to see if they score and then bring it back, its not f***ing rugby.

Pathetic performance from that little shit.

Elphick was a bit stupid, lunging in when he's already on a yellow, although he did get the ball. First booking was a joke, though, and he's been sent off for two pretty mild fouls, which is ludicrous. The referee seemed to want a non-contact game.

That said, it's very much our own faults we didn't come away with anything. The game should have been over before Mr Cook started his silliness.

Elphicks first booking was a joke. Even his second one I didn't think was that bad, and i've seen people get away with doing more than that. However, Hawkins was definite red.

Hawkins deserved to go and hopefully will never play for us again.

Elphick more suspect

Waiting til tonight to view the highlights before making any definate decision on how I feel the ref performed but my main problem was that there was no consistency in his bookings. Seemed card happy for the boys in stripes but all the he wanted to do with the Stockport players was give them a jolly good talking to.

1st or 2nd goal was offside and the ball put through which lead to their pen.

Elf's 1st yellow was down to the referee who judged that it was a foul on the goalie otherwise the goal had to stand. A free kick could have been given with Elf getting a warning that his next misdemeanour would result in a booking.

1st or 2nd goal was offside and the ball put through which lead to their pen.

The ball through for their penalty was on side. We had a defender in the corner of the pitch playing everyone onside.

Soft first yellow for elphick. Second was one of those hearty challenges that old timers complain about being called fouls because "it's a contact sport" (it's not, it's a ball game that allows limited contact, a contact sport requires contact for the sport to be played, it is possible to play a game of football without touching your opponents, ergo, not really a contact sport).

The problem was that we had just scored our second and all our players were lungin in desperately because they didn't want to conced straight away yet again.

Hawkins was a definite red, how anyone can argue against it is beyond me.

I thought the ref did well until the fans got on his back.

You can't blame the ref for any of the 3 cards, Elphick already on a yellow goes straight through the Stockport player for a definite booking and if it had been a County player in roles reversed we would have been howling for him to be booked. Hawkins was a definite red once he gave the penalty and even stupider was the Stockport player kicking the ball away on a yellow.
So can't blame the ref for any of them.

well, I was in the front row of C stand, and couldn't see the sending offs, but looked liked Elphick got the ball.

What I COULD see perfectly was their keeper come off his line as Forster begun his run up and ended up 3 yards out when ball contact was made. Should have been re-taken, and at 2-1 up reckon we could have held the game.

Shame, I thought we had a lot of fight, and Dickinson is looking a much better player than the first half of the Walsall game when he looked like toilet. Let's keep off Russell's back for a bit yeah, give him some time. The only time 80% of the Withdean make any noise is to moan, so let's get behind the team.

Oh, and Hawkins got the only two minutes he'll get this season.
