The real reasons we are champions

Apologies for posting yet another SCC thread, but this is getting hilarious now. If you add Adkins', Harding's and Cortese's comments to the mix (together with those of their fans) the list of excuses is absolutely stupendous. Easy 10 put some of these up in another thread, but it's worth doing an update.

So here are the real reasons why Brighton are champions and have a 16-point lead over Southampton.

1. Saints had a bad start to the season, and were near the bottom of the table when Adkins took over. If they hadn't had such a poor beginning to the campaign they'd be top (wrong - taking the results of both clubs since NA took charge, we would be TEN points ahead).
2. According to NA, we have had more penalties than any other team in this division (maybe it's because we've deserved them? We missed most of them anyway!).
3. We use our ball boys to our advantage at Withdean (apparently "everyone" knows about this, but I personally have no idea what NA is talking about!)
4. According to Dan Harding, Saints never had a chance to 'catch us up' as their matches were postponed (this is nonsense, we've had as many postponed matches as they have).
5. According to Cortese, Saints have had it tougher because teams raise their games when they play them and every match is a 'cup final'!
6. According to comments on the Daily Echo pages, Saints aern't used to playing on League One pitches, whereas we are more accustomed to them as we've been down here a while. (even tho Withdean has one of the best pitches in the division?!).
7. We haven't had any injuries to crucial players (um, nicely ignoring the fact Navarro has been out virtually all season and arguably our best player, Lua Lua, broke his ankle in November and didn't play for us again).
8. We've been lucky and had good fortune as far as bookings are concerned.
9. Saints had a bad day up front against us, otherwise they'd have won by 2 or 3 and we did a lot of timewasting (ignores the fact that we would have taken all 3 points had we scored the penalty!)
10. Gus has been at the Albion a year longer than Adkins has been at Saints, therefore longer to aclimatise.
11. The head-to-heads of South Coast clubs has yet to be decided, if Saints win at Withdean then they are the best. We may have won the League, but we are nowhere near being the best team on the south coast!

TBH, the moaning about the moaning about Stains is getting tedious, IMHO...

I agree. We are playing them tomorrow, after all. And they certainly deserve some stick.
