If he abdicates, he abdicates for his line, so the crown would pass to Andrew or his offspring.
Really? I always assumed it went to next in line of succession rather than eliminating all of his progeny (best word I'll use today).

when Edward 8th abdicated they drew up an act of parliament to specify the abdication and the rules of it, as there is no other precednce or legal method to do so (our Monarch is there by act of parliament). Declaration of Abdication Act 1936 stipluated his line would have no claim to the throne. this wouldnt need to be included if Elizabeth II or Charles abdicated.
