On the terraces!!
BDO
Better venue (though the food is hideous)
More respectful crowds (silence for the throw)

PDC
Better players.

take your pick.

i would rather have a LIVELY crowd and the best players wuith all the FLAIR, than a library-type quiteness throughout the game!

ALSO.... PDC has SID wadell who is a f***ing legend.

And whats with the poofy "score readers" on the BDO? :safeway:

Ally Pally, a giant soulless warehouse.

Frimley Green, an ampitheatre of tension, high drama and thrills and spills between darting gladiators.

Anyone watching Adams v Chisnell at the moment?? As good as anything the PDC served up in the first 2 rounds.

I have to admit I preferred the Circus Tavern to the Ally Pally but that's about my only gripe with the PDC.

If you take Taylor and Anderson out of the equation (although Anderson is a bit of a choker) then you still have Barneveld, Klaasen, Manley, King, Mardle and Priestley to name but a few. As has been mentioned, the rank and file of the PDC is generally better than the BDO.

Another fair point elsewhere that sometimes it is more exciting to watch blokes in the BDO having six or seven nail-biting shots at a double than watching Taylor etc hit them first or second time. That said, the possibility it may have taken the BDO player 18 darts to get to that point knocks a bit of the gloss off it.

Overall, I prefer the PDC, although am going to the Lakeside tonight becuase I bloody love darts.

Having been to both, I have to agree. But Ally Pally comes across well on TV - it's just not a brilliant live experience.

I'll give you an example - that 'der der der der der' music starts up as soon as the match is over, just like when a goal is scored at a Premiership stadium and they start up the PA. No doubt some like it (and, as I said, it looks good on telly) but it's all a bit tacky for me. No wonder crowds at the Ally Pally sing while the players are throwing.

:

it is lively at the Lakeside - just not when the players are at the oche. between throws it's rowdy. Like I said, it's respectful at the point of the throw.

That has to be better for the players (but it does make you think how poor they might be otherwise!)

Why are darts players stuck in the dark ages though? I know many come up through working men's clubs, but you'd think life hadn't moved on since wife beating was a socially acceptable past-time. Have only caught some of it in passing - that bloke with the streaked 'mohican' - has he not absorbed any external fashion stimuli since 1984? Even Phil Taylor, when interviewed about that Russian woman and women's darts made some sexist comment about women having more to do at home, I was looking at this bloke, the figurehead of British darts for so long, hoping to see some trace of irony in his voice and sadly there was none. Unbelievable.

Just back from the Lakeside

f***ing ace night

Sitting next to us was 'silverback' o'shea. He didnt stop signing autographs and having photos taken all evening..TOP MAN

Took plenty of dosh off Corals who price up who will win the first set in the afternoon and keep their prices till the start. Easy to find out who will throw first so made a killing on Whitlock then played it up on Anderson and Waites ouright.

Different class to the pdc.

Good players wouldnt go for 2 x Double top for 80 finish. They would either go for 60 + double 10 or more probably Treble 16 then double 16. Because of the options that those scores give if you miss the treble and get a single.

On the terraces!!
watched some more last night.

i still cant see how its anywhere NEAR as good as the PDC and all its flair.

even the walk on - no sexy girls, no bouncers, no rowdy crowds jumping around trying to see you... just a casual boring walk down a legion club with a coupla drunks smiling as you walk past!

Good players would'nt go for two double tops is correct BensGrandad but WORLD CLASS players like Gary Anderson would :clap::clap:
