Its almost a case of too many choices, there are so many i would like to pick now but can't for obvious reasons but knowing that the ones you don't pick are likely to have been snapped up before it's my turn again so which one do i go for?

I will go for a player who has won:

FA Community Shield (9): 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997, 2003, 2007, 2008, 2010, 2013
UEFA Champions League (2): 1998–99, 2007–08
UEFA Super Cup (1): 1991
Intercontinental Cup (1): 1999
FIFA Club World Cup (1): 2008

His records include:
Has won a record 13 top division English league titles as a player, and only Manchester United player to have winner's medals from all 13 Premier League title wins.
Most Premier League appearances for a player, with 611.
Most Premier League assists (accurate records are only available from 2002 onwards).
Only player to have played in 22 successive Premier League seasons.
Only player to have scored in 21 successive Premier League seasons.
Only player to have scored in 17 different Champions League tournaments (includes 11 consecutive tournaments, 1996–97 to 2006–07; only RaΓΊl has a better record with 14)
Most goals by a British player in the Champions League/European Cup proper history, and 14th overall (not including preliminary rounds).
Most UEFA Champions league appearances.

He is none other than
RYAN GIGGS

I'd forgotten the odd mix of devastation and frustration when someone takes a player you really wanted - especially in the final few rounds if there was one that you thought nobody else had noticed

Yep, I suspect especially with the increased number of teams this time around we're all going to get a good dose of that.

Like many others I suspect, I currently have a gleaming squad lineup which satisfies all of the categories and fits into an entirely logical formation...I fully expect to spend parts of the next few weeks yelling at my screen when/if any part of it is stolen by someone else.

Sorry for the thumbs down Gazwag , I really wanted to pick Shearer

Me too although I won't stoop to downthumbing.

Just the dregs left to choose from now I suppose. Not chosen for his looks, personality or charm, I give you ...

He's fat,
He's scouse,
He'll rob your f*cking house,
Wayne Rooney,
Wayne Rooney

Cullip4 … you’re up

Dawned on me we should probably keep a list of who has picked who, will make it easier when searching, especially once we find ourselves in the 300+ picks.

Frutos - Eric Cantona
Shatner's Bassoon - Thierry Henry
Gazwag - Alan Shearer
JOLovegrove - Cristiano Ronaldo
Reinelt12 - Robbie Fowler
Guy Fawkes - Ryan Giggs
Shuggie - Wayne Rooney

If we can keep it updated as we go along that would be lovely.

You know what I was doing the same thing BUT I was going to start a new thread in the Other section just for this so its easier to refer to, when we did the world draft I found I got lost with all the pages, I'll post a link in a minute

Great Idea.

Pain I can't update the Original Post, another forum I use allow you to, so the person who runs drafts on there (Yes, I openly admit I stole the idea. :p) can edit the OP. Having a full list of picked players and the draft order in the first post would be great, but I think Mods would get a bit peeved if I asked them to edit it every 5/10 minutes.

He may have played over 750 games....
He may have scored nearly 300 goals...
He may have played for England...
He may have won the premier league...
The FA Cup...
The European Cup...

But you can bet when he closes his eyes to think back he still can't escape the memory of Robert Codner et al and that mauling of the lions on that magical day at the goldstone!!

My first pick is Edward Sheringham!

Ah, the dreaded overnight slot. Catches many a drafter out.

I'm going to nip in and make my pick now.

Arguably the finest English player of his generation, fellow professionals would often wax lyrical about him and not building the national team around him was, quite frankly, criminal

*******!!!!

Ok my pick was a solid constant through Uniteds glory years, a leader of men, unpopular to many, but in retirement has a trophy cabinet that is the envy of most players in the world....

Gentlemen, I give you....... Gary Neville
