It was a cracking football match!

How can anyone say otherwise?! We had chances, so did they. Cracking game of football.

Which game are you referring to obviously not the one at Withdean which was awful although Stockport did play some nice football, but ours was all kick and rush. However the end product was right we won and stayed up which was the prime concern today.

Your sour fool! What on earth is wrong with you, if you didn't enjoy that game then you're obviously not a football fan! It had EVERYTHING. Passion, desire, spirit, good passing, shots coming in, tackles going in, Slade being lifted up like the hero he is.... If you didn't enjoy it, I feel sorry for you pal. :(

The game was not great but the result was.

Too much Gin Ross ?. f*** me what a downer. Get your shit together Man.

Blimey! Course I'm happy we stayed up. Absolutely delighted as it happens. But a bit of objectivity please. Cracking game of football my arse. And today says absolutely f*** all about 'the potential of this great club'

Today just seemed to me like a particularly dumb form of mass hysteria. It would have been the same old 5000-6000 people there today if we were already relegated or were already languishing in mid-table before today's match. Oh, and the standard of football was once again dreadful

I'll be totally honest and say that as someone who doesn't have a Season ticket but only missed 3 home games this season, had we had nothing to play for today, I probably would have given today a miss in favour of an afternoon on the allotment with the radio on. I think I've earnt that right after sitting through some truly shocking football this season.

However, I'll be there for the first game of next season, even if that had meant watching League Two football. As it happens, now I'll be going to at least 9 away games next season, all being well, instead of looking forward to Dagenham & Redbridge. :yahoo: That's what today meant to me.

Why don't you piss off back to making dumb comments on the topic of the day on the Argus website 'pal'?. You appear to know NOTHING about what you are watching. But don't take my word for it, look at the other posts on this thread. You appear to be the only person who thought it was a great game :dunce:

Dire game. Stockport, who had nothing to play for, looked as though they wanted it so much more. Does make me slightly apprehensive about Russell Slade for next season, but I guess you can't argue with results....

Must admit a mate commented at half time their defence was good and I said I just thought we were poor going forward.

We never had any zest today and no effort to close players down, last 15 minutes was more like an exhibition game as Stockport gave up.

getting back to the point. We can easily be a similar club to Reading (the odd flirtation with the premiership) or even Portsmouth if some money comes in once we are at Falmer. The potential is huge just need to get some people back from supporting the London premiership teams

It'll be a long hard road, though. We won't just suddenly start pulling in 15 or 20 thousand just because we've moved to the New Goldstone (or more likely the Sponsors-R-Us Stadium) at Falmer.

Shame it took a last match panic to sell out the place, where were all these extra fans in the winter months?
I'll answer that. I know that for some people a Brighton game is a Brighton game is a Brighton game. They go every week come hell or high water. They might look forward more to Leeds or Leicester but they still go if it's Hartlepool on a freezing wet Tuesday night. They go if we're playing well or serving up shit.

However there are several of us, well, many thousand actually, who don't think like that. We are not hardcore fans (or mug punters as some might call them). We want to see a winning team, an exciting team or at least decent football. Failing that we at least want a good reason to attend (supporting a truly and uniquely local team instead of the standard collection of journeyman pro's for example). If the club can't provide that, which for large chunks of the season they couldn't, we expect to only pay a reasonable price (£10) to watch the dross on offer. If at least some of those criteria aren't met we don't go.

For us fairweather fans yesterday ticked a lot of boxes and we happily paid full price to attend - it really shouldn't be that hard to understand.

The least I expect to make me go regularly is 100% effort and a team that look like they know what they're doing. For very large chunks of this season we got neither, hence I gave too many games a miss as I have better things to do than watch football that makes me want to leave at half time. I don't expect us to be worldbeaters but I need to be entertained more than frustrated and pissed off to spend £25.00 for 90 minutes on a regular basis.
