It's odd this transfer window. I think it is because we have got so used to losing some of our best players and bringing in players that are very talented but obviously need some time and are not overly expensive (compared to experienced players). We have made a massive profit from sales but also understand running a football club is an expensive business and we know we have to be careful and most would be happy to see TB recoup some of his investment.

From my little understanding of these things, I believe it is not price you pay for a player, it is the wage bill that causes the most issues financially. I assume that is the part of the club that has not change too much. I guess we are going to loan some players out and get their wages covered. One thing I am sure is that there is a plan.

Still remember my mind being blown when we paid one million for CMS

Wasn’t CMS £2.5m?

It was said (not by me) but by several people on NSC that the stars may well be aligned in that we are cash rich due to sales while other clubs are not only cash poor but also feeling the weight of a depressed market due to FFP. We certainly benefitted in that regard in our recent singing from Newcastle, a player that needed (reluctantly) to be sold, so it seems.

So the spending isn't a surprise. That we are managing to snare big targets is perhaps not a given ("little ol' Brighton") so, well played the club.

At the moment I am teetering between hope and expectation over how well we will do. Expectation is not a good thing though so I'll work to nip that in the bud. It can morph easily into entitlement.

Watch it here:

Bit of a ghost interview really. I watched it and knew exactly what PBOBE's answers would be. I would have answered exactly the same. He's not going to tell anyone what Albion are doing but will always confirm the obvious, such as needing to trim the squad.

Can’t disagree but at the same time i expected nothing different ….as SJ said he won’t say anything he doesn’t want to …very good at answering questions by not answering them if you get what i mean.

Still good for the profile of the club …and JW loves having PB on the show

We’re so lucky having Barber at the helm, I’m amazed he hasn’t been poached yet.
Agreed, which is why I never feel comfortable when people mock him or are overly critical of him here. In particular I’m not keen when people occasionally moan about him appearing on the media too much. It’s something that fans of other clubs envy. It’s just about impossible to get a public squeak out of senior management at Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool etc. To have a CEO who not only regularly appears on the media but puts himself up in front of a live audience at fan forums etc, is something you will never see at most big clubs, and something we should feel grateful for. Sorry if that sounds a bit brown-nosey but really, I think Barber does a tremendous job for us.

Making him Vice Chairman was another Bloom masterstroke. It gives him a level of prestige, and responsibility, that I don't think he'd get at many other clubs.
Very odd though White referring to it. He has been vice chair for years as well White knows, very odd!!

It was Simon Jordan who referred to it first, I think, in that weedily bantery way. Wasn't it Deputy Chairman rather than Vice Chairman? No idea if it’s a new title or not.
