Bought the box set of the series that was aired on Sky over the summer. Picked up the DVD box set tin at ASDA's for only £27. Thoroughly recommend to anyone who enjoyed Band Of Brothers.

just finished watching it today.

Was expecting it to be a disappointment after BoB which i loved, but thought the pacific was also excellent.

Sometimes wasnt sure what exactly was going on beyond lots of fighting, but compelling viewing

Thought it was awesome when I watched it... But still doesn't get anywhere near the epicness of BoB imo

I am a HUGE fan of BoB, so watched the first 6 episodes of The Pacific, but I was very disappointed. I gave up watching them in the end.

Was good watched it when it was on Sky but don't think i'll bother with the boxed set.

Band Of Brothers on the other hand is timeless watched it at least once every year since they first showed it.

I was dissapointed with The Pacific. It felt disjointed and the characters weren't anywhere as near as strong as in BoB - the exception being Snafu.

BoB for me was head an shoulders above The Pacific. Just found it hard to be empathetic towards any of the characters in The Pacific.

One thing that did get me a bit with BoB was the fact that the German army seemed so appalling. Could not shoot straight, dropped dead in their hundreds whereas similar fire on the American troops left most unscathed.

Watched Patton last night with George C Scott. The depiction of the British Officers in that was dreadful. pompous idiots who sat there and did nothing while Patton won the whole thing single-handedly.

While one accepts that American intervention in the war was critical it does bug me that most American war films completely disregard British involvement.

U-571 pretty much forgets about the code breakers at Bletchley. Saving Private Ryan ran round |france without seeing any British or other Allied forces.

Bit bollocks really.
